Canine Freestyle Group Performance

My human, Hsin-Yi, has been teaching a “Happy Paws“ Canine Freestyle class at Flip’s Top Dog (Ellerslie Racecourse Stables, Auckland 09-5221228) and they have just finished an 8-week course with a wonderful performance! Hsin-Yi is so proud of them because it is much harder to dance in a group – all the dogs have to be in time with each other – and also, because of Hsin-Yi’s own background in dancing, she has made it harder for the humans because she has put in more dancing choreography.

Here is the video of their 1st performance – Hsin-Yi says this is a fantastic achievement after just 8 weeks! :)

The 3 dogs who performed were Bella the Collie/Pointer-cross; Finnigan the Shetland Sheepdog and my good friend, Kira the German Shepherd. They each had a little solo in the routine to show the tricks that they liked the most – Bella’s was the ‘marching paws’, Finnigan’s was the weave and Kira’s was the jump over her human’s leg!

Canine Freestyle is usually done as a solo routine but Hsin-Yi thought it was nice to do a group routine when starting out, so that people wouldn’t feel as intimidated dancing alone – but she didn’t realise that doing a group routine was actually much harder! :) Anyway, everyone had loads of fun which is what is important.

Hsin-Yi is working on a new routine with me too – we’re going to dance to the Pussycat Doll’s version of “Sway” – and now that I’ve learnt to weave, we’re going to include that in my new routine – yay! :)

Whoa! That was a fabulous performance! I enjoyed it very much! Hsin-Yi, you have to teach my mom and I to dance. She has two left feet and I just like to do my own stuff.
