Honey the Great Dane

Well, I have some big news:

My humans have been very stressy for the last few days because they have been very worried about the “moving overseas” thing -

You know my human, Paul, was going to go to a place called Boston next year to do something called ‘research’ and my other human, Hsin-Yi, was going to take me and Lemon to live with her in Taiwan for the year, because it costs less money paper to live there.

But they could only do this if they could sell our home here in Auckland (because they have something horrible called a ‘mortgage’) and also if they have enough money paper for them to use for the whole year, because Paul will not be able to work in the place called Boston (he is a Human Vet but he doesn’t have a ‘licence’ to work there).

Well, something bad has happened called the ‘world economic crisis’ and although we have been trying really hard (and I helped to plant all those beautiful flowers!) – nobody wants to buy our home! – and even if we rent it to some other humans, that is not enough money paper for the horrible ‘mortgage’. And also, the money paper that my humans saved up have become half their value.

So they have been wondering what to do…Hsin-Yi’s mother said maybe she could go back to live with them in a faraway place called Dubai, because then that wouldn’t cost any money paper but that would mean that me and Lemon would have to stay here in New Zealand (gasp!) and there isn’t really anybody they feel comfortable leaving us with…

So in the end, my humans have decided that the best thing is for us to all stay here in New Zealand instead of doing this “moving overseas” thing next year. Paul found a different ‘research’ thing to do here in Auckland and we can save more money paper here (this Boston is a very expensive place – my humans said you have to pay US$1,000 a month just to rent one room in a house that you have to share with lots of other humans!) Hsin-Yi can also make more money paper here because she knows many people who like her writing. And we can live in our own house – and we can all stay together!

We ARE still moving at the end of next year – we’re going to live forever in a place called Australia but that is not so far away from New Zealand and there is no quarantine for me and Lemon to go there, so it will not be so stressy or so expensive.

But I am SO disappointed that I will not be able to meet Dino in Taiwan – I was so looking forward to doing fun things like swimming and doggie cafes together with him! – but now we will have to just share our adventures through our blogs. And I will just have to tell you all about my adventures here in New Zealand…I hope you don’t mind!

Sorry if I have not visited your blogs in the last few days – my humans have been very stressy and upset so I have been keeping very quiet and trying to be good. Now that everything is decided, I hope they will be more happy and relaxed.
