Destination: Taiwan!

A lot of you have been asking about where I am going when we do this “moving overseas” thing…well, my human, Hsin-Yi, has just told me that we are going to live for a year in Taiwan!

taiwan-nightscenetouchyrheart

taiwan-tourism-collageThis is the country where she was born although she has lived mostly in other places, like Dubai and Oxford – and of course, Auckland!

Hsin-Yi has a very good schoolfriend there who will be letting us stay in her apartment in Taipei (the capital of Taiwan) and I’m going to have to learn all about being an “inner city dog”!

Do you think Taiwanese dogs ”woof” in Chinese?? :)

Hsin-Yi says Taipei is very different from Auckland – it is awfully noisy and crowded and there are TONS of people and lots of traffic and smoke in the air…

Taipei!

Taipei!

…and there aren’t many wide, open, green spaces like in New Zealand – so I don’t think I’ll be able to run around on the beach or chase my tennis ball like in the parks here…but that’s OK because Hsin-Yi says there are lots of new things to discover, like doggie cafes, where us dogs will be allowed in as well! I’m really looking forward to that :)

(at least – I hope they do allow me in! I heard that most dogs there are really small and so everyone might be scared of a big dog like me…)

My friend, Dino, in Taiwan...

My friend, Dino, in Taiwan...

And the best thing is, my friend Dino the Golden Retriever lives in Taipei! I only met Dino through our blogs but now I will get to meet him in person…how exciting!

Dino has a fantastic blog so if you want to know more about life in Taipei, then go to www.ilovedino.blogspot.com

My humans will be leaving New Zealand in the first week of December - so Lemon and me will be going stay in the pet hotel, while my humans go to a faraway place called Dubai and London to see their families over Christmas and New Year…and then next January, special humans who help to transport pets will take us to Taipei, where my human will be waiting for us!

Gosh, only 2 more weeks to go!

  • Hi Honey.

That looks like the greatest dog park. We have dog parks here in North Carolina, but not anything like your park. Glad you had fun with your friend.

    Your friend,
    Niamh

  • Dear Honey.

First to commend you on your beauty and grace- what a star!

I live in Taiwan and work with animal rescue centres here. I also write animal articles for a local magazine. There are two AMAZING great danes in Taipei owned by a Taiwanese man with lots of travel experience. Everyone in Taipei knows or has had the pleasure to meet these beauties as he tends to run with them through the city and a long the river park.

anyway, I was researching on the net to try to and find him and came across your blog and the formuosa questions from 2003. Are you still planning to move to our little island or not anymore?

If you were to do so – you would be the biggest attraction after the newly arrived Panda’s and I am sure there are many who would welcome you here!

Best of luck for wherever you go in the future and keep up the great blog!
