Bethells was just an off-leash beach. Full Stop. I always check all signs and am very careful to follow them - and yes, I ALWAYS carry a bag and pick up after my dog. It is often the people with little dogs (and a lot less to pick up) that ignore that rule. It is sad that it is the responsible dog owners like myself that always get picked on by anti-dog people, when it's the other irresponsible owners who give dogs a bad name. Please don't tar us all with the same brush. I could say that the same - that NZ was a friendly, open-minded place, until people named Dave appeared. I hope you take a plastic bag..most people don't and I end up having to dodge the dog faeces. Bethells used to be a nice place 'til all the dogs arrived.
