Yay! We did it! 
I performed my new routine at the Devonport Dog Parade today and it went quite well!
I did miss a few things and got a bit distracted in the middle but Hsin-Yi was very pleased with me, especially since we only had about 4 weeks to practise for this.
She said that considering all the noise and crowds and children and other dogs – AND the bits of food that had been dropped on the grass – all the dogs who performed today did amazingly well to ignore all those distractions and stay focused on their owners and follow complicated commands.
It was a lovely sunny day and there were about 200 people there plus lots of different dogs.
There were balloons and other big floaty things and humans dressed up in funny coats that sort of looked like stuffies (humans are weird!) and children running everywhere.
So here is a video of the dances – it was Baxter the Pomeranian first, then Skye the Heading Sheepdog, then my friends, Kira the German Shepherd and Finnigan the Sheltie and then finally me!
Oh, and so exciting – I met my blog friends, Cookie and Cinnamon the Beagles there! They were looking so cute in little coats and it was so nice of them to support us. Unfortunately, Hsin-Yi was so nervous and busy “warming up” before our performance that she forgot all about taking photos…and so I don’t have a picture with Cookie & Cinnamon 
Oh well, maybe next time!
So after our performance, me and Kira both got to have an ice-cream as a treat!
Lots of people came up afterwards to say how much they liked my performance and they all wanted to give me lots of pats and cuddles, which of course, I loved! And one lady even came up to Hsin-Yi and said that she was a photographer and wanted to do a free photoshoot with me ‘coz she thought I was really beautiful! 
(So I guess you’ll be seeing me at another photoshoot soon!)
And then I came home and my humans gave me another treat – a fresh pig’s trotter!! YUM!
(My human also got a treat for herself…she got a “trashy mag.” This is a kind of thin human book which has lots of pictures of humans doing strange things and lots of stories which are not true. Hsin-Yi loves to read them but she doesn’t get them usually because they are a waste of money paper – but today, she said she deserved a treat after all our hard work practising and training in the last few weeks).
Well, after all that – I was totally exhausted. It has been a really long day: I had my nails clipped and the yucky bath thing this morning…then I performed…then I was patted and cuddled by tons of people…then I had an ice-cream…then my humans took me for a walk in one of the parks in Devonport which I had never been to before…then I chewed the pig’s trotter for 1/2hr…Whew! You know us Danes can’t take much into our brains in one go…as soon as I had dinner, I put myself to bed!
Good Job Honey! Gee you are so talented. I just wanted to say thanks for visiting my blog and that your picture of the ice cream looks so good! I love ice cream, but momma makes me wipe my face off afterwards cause I’m messy. Humans just don’t get it – doogies like being messy!
Wow, Honey! REALLY busy day, you weren’t kidding were you? We LOVED your new routine and you did so well. Mum is jealous that you got ice-cream but we’d rather have the pig’s trotter, they’re the best!

We’ve progressed to me running through her legs quite fast. She never thought a Great Dane would be able to do that! Secondly, I want to thank you for taking the time to post all that good information about using clicker training with articles. We are definitely going to try that. It takes a lot of patience to break things down into small increments when shaping a behavior, but I think we’re up for it. You asked about our ‘articles’ we use for scent discrimination here in the states. There are 10 articles – five metal and five leather. The judge or steward places eight of them (unscented) in a pile (six inches apart). The handler retains one metal and one leather and one at a time places her scent on the article, which is then taken to the pile, and I have to find the correct article with her scent on it!
First of all – your performance was great! My human may try to get me doing freestyle as a result of your great success with it

Oh Honey, I enjoyed watching the whole video & I had to agree with some people who commented on the video, I think you were the BEST! Not only because you were the largest dog dancing there but you are noticeable by the crowd & you & your Hsin-Yi are the most entertaining dancing duos I’ve ever seen! By the way, I have to comment on her dancing. She’s very fluid & her movements are just great. I like the part when you did the dressage. Too cute!
