If you missed my posts about my holiday, here is Part 1 and Part 2
Here is a video of my adventures on holiday!
The sheep were amazingly friendly – most sheep we see usually just run away - but these came right up to us! The humans at Broekhaven Farm said that this is because they all used to be “pet lambs” and so were not afraid of humans or dogs.
And I was a bit wobbly and nervous on that pier!
Hsin-Yi says she was surprised at how many of you felt angry about the “No Dogs Allowed” rule in Part 2 – she thought it was very unfair and she is glad that others agree with her! She says she feels that the world is becoming more and more UN-dog-friendly all the time and that sometimes, she wishes we lived in the faraway place called Europe where she heard that dogs are really welcome anywhere, even in restaurants and shops…is this true? Paco & Milo? Pipa? Homer? Pu? Ressue, Lenni and Vekku? Any other doggie who lives in Europe?
******
Hsin-Yi’s birthday was actually in the week, after we came back from our holiday, and she and Paul went to a very nice restaurant in downtown Auckland to celebrate. It is under the ground and does super yummy food, all stuck on sticks! It is one of their favourite places in Auckland:
Hsin-Yi is now 35 years old! She says this makes her feel very old – but actually, she is still younger than me! I’m 5 & half years old and because I’m a giant breed, that means I’m already going into middle age – in human years, I am about 48 & half years old!

A lot of people think that 1 dog year = 7 human years but this is actually not true because small dogs live a long time (15-17yrs) whereas giant breeds like me unfortunately only live for very short time (8-10yrs). So we big dogs get old a lot faster. So if you want to work out our ages in human years more correctly, you would have to remember our weight as well. Here is a good calculator for finding out what your human age is:
http://griscotti.com/dogagecalculator.html
(I’m about 150lbs and 5.5yrs old, which makes me 48.5 in human years. If anybody needs a kg to lbs convertor, it is here: http://www.onlineconversion.com/weight_common.htm)
So how old are you?

Oh, and I also got something exciting in the mail this week: my ‘Certificate of Pawticipation’ from Gus & Waldo! Thanks guys!

Oooh...something for me?

Yay!

Loved the video(and music)! What a great holiday you had. Those redwood trees are definitely giant!
It was nice that you could get so close to those animals Honey…..and you were so well behaved with them. The chickens were our favourite of course!
And a belated Happy Birthday Hsin-Yi. You’re a very young looking 35!!
Hi Honey,
My name is Mona. I just saw your comment on Tuffy’s blog and got so excited. I don’t have any great dane friends but I see lots of them at the rescue events we go to….I’m a rescued dachshound and Mommy. Sarah, is a volunteer with DROH where we love in Texas.
We just did a post last night about a great dane who thought he was a dachshund. Come over & check it out.
I would liove to be friends, OK!!

Hi me again.
Mommy wants to know if we can use the picture of you standing next to the flower bush on my upcoming DWB “Dogs With Spring Flowers”?
Here’s some more {{{huggies}}} for you and your Mom…Happy belated birthday!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY HSIN-YI!!
That was a lovely video. Your family seems sooo nice, happy and zen! We loved watching it. And the pictures, too, of course.
Unfortunatley, here in Portugal is not that easy to take our doggies with us. Because of those owners who insist in NOT picking the poo, we are not allowed off leash in some bootiful Parks and we are not allowed at all in restaurants (with exceptions) and in the beach, during summer time.
But in general, people are dog friendly (with exceptions, too).
My Mommy will be sending you an e-mail too with some questions! Thank you so much for being soooo nice!
Love
Pipa
PS: we just loved that picture with you and Honey! BOOTIFUL!
Hi Honey! It’s me, Kylie again! I just wanted to say it looks like you had a Pawtastic time on vacation! Boy would I like to meet those Sheep!! Right out your back door too!! You looked a little nervous on the dock!! Don’t worry, you won’t fall though! BOL

Nice video. Looks like you had lots of fun! Did you get to meet that cute goat or was it just your mom? I have my very own goats. They are so much fun to play with, but Mommy gets mad at me because she says they are scared, not playing. Anyway thanks for sharing the weight based age calculator. I weigh 39.8 pounds and I am fifteen months old so it said I am eighteen almost nineteen years old in human years.
What a great video! You and your family looked like you had a grand time on holiday with all those walkies in such beautiful picturesque places. Say, weren’t you even the teeny weeniest tempted to chase all those sheepies?
I was itching to give chase just watching your video …

What a wonderful holiday you had. I can’t wait to go there myself. My kids would love feeding all the animals. So would I! I love the photo of you and Hsin-Yi, it’s beautiful.
Thanks for sharing your adventures.
Pawsome video, Honey! Your holydays were really amazing! Here in Europe we have a long way to go about dogs in restaurants and all that but we can not complain!
Kisses fro Rufus and Indie
3 Howls for a fabulous looking vacation! I adored the video of a country we’ve all wanted to visit for a long time! How wonderful that you got to go along with your humans everywhere! Did you even get to go the cave to eat dinner heh hee!
Hugs xo
Sammie
Happy Birthday, Hsin-Yi!! 35 years old is still very young we think!
Hoeny, thank you for sharing the great movie of your holiday in Rotorua and telling us about the tools to calculate how old we are in human years. Using the tools, we’ve found that Cookie is just as old as his dad
What a fantastic video! The trees and the water and sunlight made me wish I was there.
I liked how you checked out every part of the cottage when you first got there (I would have done the same) and that you got some bread too when your MOm was feeding the sheep!
Did that water scare you at first when the wave was crashing? I get very spooked by those wave things when I’m not paying attention. Also, did you give that older gentleman a kiss when he came to say hello…looked like you may have. I would have.
Thanks for the calculator link…we will go check it out later. Also, Mom said to tell your Mom that the games she used for my birthday pawty were ones she had heard about or played at our dig club.
Last thing…I have left an award for you on my blog if you would like it.
Kisses,
Nala
Wow Honey it looks like you and your hoomans had such a good time! I think i would have loved playing hide and seek in amongst those giant trees! And the water over there is so clear and lovely that even my delicate self might have decided to get more than my paws wet.
My human used the calculator and I’m not even five years old yet!
snuffles,
Mr Darcy
Hi Honey!
we loved your holliday´s post… it was beautiful..
unfortunately here in Portugal there aren´t many places that us doggys can go to…
there are really few hotels that allow dog in, an even in those they have a dog house outside.
Sara found 2 hotels were doggys could be in the hotel! anywhere! even in the room! So I guess in the summer we will be going there!
Thank´s for the age calculator link! I´m 15… so I guess I´m a teenager… that explains my recent rebellious behaviour heheh
Licks Pu
Hey Honey!! That video was brilliant!! We felt like we were right there with you too!!
You like dipping your paws in the water don’t you?? We hate the water so we was scared for you when you paddled but mummy explained that most doggies do like the water…how odd!! You were so well behaved with the sheep!! Well done for that!
Thanks for the calculator, I be 33 years old, Sophie bees 20 years old and Hazel bees 38 years old. We all young at heart aren’t we!!
We are in Europe but not many places are that dog furiendly, we not allowed in restaurants or shops, and we have restrictions on beaches and stuffs. Mummy and daddy don’t sit with us outside pubs/restaurants because they don’t think we’d settle down but mummy said they will try us when we go on holidays if the weather is nice enough to sit out.
Scotty xxxx
Hi honey! I dropped in from Nala’s -- although exactly how I traveled here (one comment to another) is too hard for me to remember. What I do know is that you are one very awesome-looking dog! Did anyone ever tell you that you look like a giant ridgeback? Great Danes used to be my mom’s favourite breed, but then she got me. And lol, you know what happens then -- our mom just adores us, no matter what we look like or how big or small we are! Looking forward to checking in on your life more often. It all depends on how fast our West African connection is.
Warm greetings from Niger,
Sheba

Hi Honey!
We have given you an award, please stop by to pick it up!! xx Scotty
Great video, it looks so gorgeous there! Our humans have wanted to move away from the UK for a long time and it’s only since we started blogging that we all realise just how lucky we are to live here where we can run free.
A belated Happy Birthday Hsin-Yi, you really don’t look 35!
Slobbers xx
You had such a pawsome pawliday! About the ‘No Dogs Allowed’ thingy, sometimes, we can’t blame people for banning the dogs but then again, it’s not the dog’s fault. Yeah it is dirty that we poop & pee everywhere but they must also realize that there are other animals over there that do just the same things just that maybe they’re smaller & not as noticeable like the kitties or the birdies. I heard birdies poop on people! Hehehe! But it is the irresponsible, selfish & inconsiderate owners of the dogs that are to be blamed for making people hate dogs & ban them. They should be banned instead. I know how much this city wants to keep their place clean but I think this is a bit overdone by totally banning dogs. Perhaps they should change the rule like fining the owners for not cleaning up after the dogs? I think that’s much more better because there are also owners who are responsible so it’s not totally fair but then again, there are so many other places to go to, not only that city so maybe that doesn’t really bother people too much. Hehe! Anyway, congrats on your cert! It looks very nice. Too bad I had to miss it.
Smoochies,
Solid Gold Dancer
Oh shucks! We are late -- we missed Hsin Yi’s birthday, sorry! My humans happened to be away for the weekend. Happy Belated Birthday Hsin Yi! We love you!
Love,
Homer
Oops…we also want to thank Hsin-Yi for the helpful tips on how to walk your dog nicely on a leash. We’ve been practising them but I guess it’s take a while for me to get used to it.
Holland is a dog friendly place. We can go anywhere like shopping malls, metros, trams, cafetaria and even hotels (which I’ve stayed a couple of them).
Hey Honey, why don’t you pack your bags and come to Holland? I would love to play zoomies with you!
Love,
Homer
