This past weekend has been – as my blog friend, Mango the Mastiff would say – relentlessly wet.
Our garden was so flooded, the raw fish I had for breakfast on Sunday nearly swam away!
Usually my humans insist on taking me out for my daily walk even when it’s pouring – although I try very hard to assure them that I really don’t need it!
(Going out in the rain? Don’t they realise that I might get wet?!?!)
- but thank goodness, this time it was raining so hard they showed some sense and we just stayed in, nice and dry, and had Sunday afternoon cuddles instead.
But – evil humans – they DID insist that I go out for my Last Wee Before Bedtime. ..
But luckily, it wasn’t so bad on Saturday - the rain stopped long enough for me to meet up with my blog friends, Cookie & Cinnamon - this time on the beach at Mission Bay…
And guess what we found on the beach?!
It was half of a strange, flat fish…my human, Hsin-Yi, said they are called “stingrays” and it was actually very exciting because earlier in the day, there was a big group of killer whales hunting these sting rays and people could see them from the beach…they were flipping the sting rays into the air and catching them and eating them!
It was very exciting because killer whales don’t normally come so close to the beach. But we didn’t see any killer whales – only half a stingray and this is what Cookie thought of it:
Oh well…at least he didn’t try to eat it! They say beagles are crazy about food but at least they seem to know the good stuff!
Me and Cookie are becoming good friends – we had a great walk together on the beach…
…did some exploring together…
…and even some modelling together!
It was good to have a quiet, lazy weekend because I’ve had a busy week. Aside from all my dance training, I also did my usual Outreach Therapy Pets Thursday night therapy visit to the special children in the special home.
We have been doing lots of fun things with the children but unfortunately, we are not allowed to take pictures inside the home because many of the children have been hurt by people who might still want to hurt them and might find out where they are from the photos…
So we could only take some photos outside the special home…
Because the visits are at night, it is really dark but Hsin-Yi managed to take one of all of us visiting Therapy Dogs together. Don’t we look like a great team?
I also had a visit to The Vets in the week because my humans were a bit worried about all the little lumps that have been coming up on my body…
I love my vet, Marieke – she is really pretty, with big blue eyes, and she always talks to me in a silly voice and calls me “bubba”, which I love.
I have been going to see Marieke since I was 8 weeks told!
She always does strange things to me – like poking my tummy and moving my legs and putting a sort of telephone on my chest…

…but I don’t mind because she always gives me lots of cuddles and treats afterwards. She said I was in really good shape and that my lumps were just “fatty lumps” – because I am getting old!
Really! Just because I’m going a bit grey, there is no need to be so blunt about it!!
And lastly – I’m so sorry that I missed Mason Dixie’s post about the
‘Howling Salute’ for beautiful Dakota, which was supposed to be on Sunday 28th. The thing is, I rarely even bark so howling would have been a real challenge for me and it probably would have just been a video of me staring blankly at the camera…so I hope it’s OK to just do a word howl for Dakota – RIP beautiful Princess, we will miss you:
HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWLLLLLLLLLL!

We tend to get a fair amount of rain in the part of Oregon that we live in. Thankfully, I’ve gotten both of the dogs aclimated to it and they don’t mind so much as long as we’re doing something fun like hiking or going out and about. Although they are both still total wimps about their morning pee in the rain!LOL
You are not getting old! You look young and fresh and beautiful. Oh and I don’t like the rain either just so you know.

Honey, our momma is so happy that she found your site in all of bloggy-land! Momma’s last German Shepherd Dog, Starr, was a therapy dog. Sadly Starr died at the age of three from acute pancreatitis and our momma nearly lost her whole heart because it got broken. But, the good thing is that we came into her life and we make her smile. We are learning to be therapy dogs just like Starr used to be. We try really hard to learn because we love our momma so much.
We really like your dances, too! We will be sniffing around your place lots to read more about you and to see what you are up to☺
Honey!
I´m glad the rains stopped on Saturday and you could meet your blog friends. Looks like you had a great time at the beach.
Beautiful pictures. The one with you and your dad is so sweet.
You and your pals sure are a great therapy dogs team.
xoxo,
Thor
I LOVE the modeling photo – you two look fantastic there! (I’m with you on the rain thing – I’d much rather piddle in the house when it’s raining than actually go outside and get wet!)
*kissey face*

What a busy (lazy) weekend. I too do not like to go out in the rain, I know I can hold it if I have to, but mom says no and forces me out the door!! humans!. What a great time at the beach you had, and a new friend, awesome. Thanks for joining me in the salute to Dakota, words are just as good. =)
Hi Honey,
It was another great walk together! But why didn’t you try to get the food a family was having at the beach? It was a great chance to get some crispy potato fries!! And actually Cinnamon got some
Cinnamon doesn’t like the rain either. She walks in an awkward way just like limping when she has to walk in a paddle.
Your therapy squad looks great in the photo! We are proud of what you do.
Also, we are glad that your lumps are not bad ones.
Honey, you are a blast. I loved those photos of you not wanting to go out and take that last wee. BOL… you are so funny, Honey (see? Your name even rimes with funny… that says it all).
How am I suppose to swim there?? And what’s that thing called shampoo that smells funny?! Hum?
I usually do the opposite with water. I splash it and dive in immediatly. At the beach, in the mud, in the rain… but I’m not very fond of the bathtub. For God sake, I can’t move!
I’m a big fan of you, you already know it, Honey. And my Mom is a big fun of the work your Mommy is doing with you. Plus, we admire your work with the children. You’re the best!
Now, I’m going to read your previous post about clicker training with lots of attention. My human says she wants to learn it all with you!
Love
Pipa
Oh Honey, we HATE the rain too. We also have to be dragged out to do wee wees in it, and even when we go out we just stand by the door crying to come in!!
(
You look like you had a brill time with your furiends, they look so dinky compared to you!! It’s lovely to see little and large dogs getting on so very well!!
You are doing some great work on your therapy visits. I too am not allowed to have photos taken inside the places I visit, it be a rule of the charity.
We also don’t howl, so it be a very good idea to do a word howl instead for Dakota. We missed the post telling us to do this,
Love Scotty xx
great post – your beach looks so pretty and fun – the water police closed our beach a couple weeks ago they say it is dangerous – we can go to the other beach but mommy worries since the 2 are so close to each other
woodrow sweetie mj
i did NOT know Narnia was filmed in NZ!!! i am a huge Lord of the Rings fan though! NZ has such savage, raw beauty–you must be so proud to live there. I like it because it has all the beauty but is not as well known as Austrailia but is better–hehehe! AND…I like when you post videos because your accent is so kewl!!!
Mmmmm, sushi!
Gosh, it would be amazing to see the killer whales and the stingrays!
It has been raining a lot here, too. But I do not mind, because I do not have to go outside in it. I hope you have sunny days soon!
Oh Honey, I feel the EXACT same way about rain! I refuse to go out and potty too but normally I lose in the end.
How cool about the Killer Whales and the Stingrays! That would have been neat to see but neat that you found one of the stingrays! Was it really stinky? Probably more so after Cookie was finished with it! BOL! Also, great clicker training post below. Mom says she wishes she would have started me with one but we seem to do ok with the word ‘yes’ but she read the comments about using a word like that and she agrees. Glad you had a relaxing weekend!
Love,
Nala
Hi Honey! We are back! Thank you for caring about us!
We love our vet too!
Cookie and you look lovely together!
Kisses
Rufus and Indie
Older but WISER and more BEAUTIFUL. Just tell that to your vet.
We don’t like it when it rains, either. Gus is okay to go potty in the rain, but Waldo WILL NOT go out. Daddee has to carry his front legs up to get him to go!
Honey, I wouldn’t like having to wee outside in the wet either! Poor you!
But your walk looked like fun.
And so glad you are healthy, though getting older. (Hint…it means you are very wise).
And again, kudos to you and Hsin-Yi for the therapy work you do. It is wonderful!
Haha, my dog does the same thing – he would rather hold it all night than go out and risk getting wet – and ohhhhh if there’s any thunder that’s it! They’re so cute!
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh dear Honey!!!!
I (PAco) love a lot rain but Milo hate rain like you!!!!
When it’s raining I love play with the water and rolling in the mud!!!!!!!!
We’re happy rain stopped so you had a wonderful day at the beach!!!
Woowowowooooo…look you had lots of fun…and how lovely is your beagle friend…….we had laugh a lot watching how big are you and how little is the beagle….
But your model photos are very very very great!!!!
You and the beagle look soooooooooooooo Gorgeous!!!!!!
And….sure you’re very very sweet working with special children…sure they have had a wonderful time with you!!!!!
We’re happy you feel better….but we don’t think you’re getting old!!!!
You look soooooooooooooooo youth and beautiful!!!!!!!!!!
Awwwwwwwwwwwrrrrrrrrrrrrr….
sometimes humans don’t understood NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We love you a lot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We send you lots of love and kisses and special cuddles for Hsin-Yi and Paul!!!!!
SMACKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK
Honey! I thought I heard you yelling on Sunday! I cannot believe they forced you out in the rain like that. Couldn’t they have taken you out the other door?
I am convinced that bad weather is not present out the front door so if it rains too hard out back I ask to go out front. But mean momma wants to torture me too just like yours.
I am glad you are getting along with your beagle pals. Maybe you can all work on a dance routine together. Now that would be cool.
Slobbers,
Mango
Honey
We are so similar about not getting wet! I absolutely hate going into water or going out in the rain and because I’m half poodle everyone seems to think I should love it! Those photos of you not wanting to leave the house are priceless!
We loved reading about your Pet Therapy job as well and seeing the other pet therapy dogs that work with you. That is a wonderful thing you all do.
Finally, that last photo of you and your vet is great – she looks so friendly!
lots of woofs
Clive
Hi Honey,
Thanks for posting the cool picture of us as therapy dogs. I am glad your lumps werent anything bad. I really like your dancing. Also it looked like great fun on the beach. I LOVE the beach!!!!! I think i might have tried to roll in the stingray cause i love to smell like dead things, despite my mums trying their best to keep me clean. I love the rain to. I go out and take forever to find just the right place to wee. The only water i dont like is bath water! See you on thursday!
Beatricexx
Honey, TD LOVES, LOVES, LOVES the rain, the harder it is coming down, the more he wants to be out. Phantom (and Dakota) are like you, forget going out in the rain, they can wait a long time.
We think your verbal howl was so sweet and thoughtful of you. Thank you so much.
Woos, the OP Pack
Wow, those stingrays are huge! And the rain isn’t so bad if the humans go out with you. Sometimes they’ll even get you to play with them, and afterward they give you a nice towel rub
Honey!
You won featured blog of the month! Good job!
Slobbers,
Mango
Hi there Honey!
Sounds like quite a day at that beach – killers whales and sting rays?! Cool!
Thanks for sharing your pics.
We are going to have a look at your clicker training vid soon – my mom is really interested!
Thanks for posting it, I know it will be helpful!
xo
We are finally drying up a bit here, but we hope we don’t dry up to much.
That stingray looks purrty strange. We might have had to lick it to get a taste though.
We are very glad your lumps are not something that might be the evil “c” word.
And great job being a therapy dog!
You have been busy Honey, your playdate at the beach looked fun.
Killer Wales, they sound scary.
Holly & Zac…XX
Ah yes!
I loves the rain! Mom khalls me Princess Rain Khloud! She has to khome out to make me khome bakhk in!
Mom says rays are khool…she was at the akhwarium in Baltimore and khould ‘pet’ some in a shallow pool!
Great modelling session!
Woo SOOO look like a young pup!
AND TANK WOO FUR the beawootiful tribute to Princess Dakota!
Hugz&Khysses,

Hello Honey!
Thank you for coming by our blog and leaving a comment! You are so sweet. You don’t look old enough for the vet to be so blunt.
Thank you for your offer of rain but we don’t want any. We don’t like to get wet and we hate rain and we hate baths! Mom has a spray bottle that she points at us when she wants us to stop doing something. It works really well. One of these days we are going to figure out how to get that thing and chew it up … but we are afraid to get too close.
We hope you have dried off from your rude treatment. If we come to visit, do you mind if we stand under you while it is raining? Then only one of us (you) has to get wet!
Roxie, Sammy & Andy
I hate the rain too! It’s wonderful to see you having so much fun at the beach and your interesting find. Glad that there is nothing to worry about your fatty lumps. Phew!
You and your therapy dog friends look so smart, I am sure you guys bring lots of cheer to the children you visit. Keep up the good work, Honey! Love, Dino
Interesting that you protested about rain and then jumped in the ocean.
Glad to hear about the lumps – Nigel has his share of fatty lumps and we were spooked about them as well…
Old? is your vet kidding? You have boundless energy, just like a puppy!
Oh and unlike you, I love to go for walks even if it’s pouring! But my lazy parents would tell me they are skipping my walks cos they don’t want me (or is it themselves) to get wet and tell me it’s ok to pee at the balcony. They rather clean up the place!
I enjoyed reeding bout the stingrays and stuff! I will never git to go to a place like that so it is neet to see other dawgs having fun doing that.
I dont like rain neither. Fergit it Mummy!! I kin hold it!! Course here in Teksus we dont have rain too much.
Yer pal Dozer
Hi Honey – we’ve discovered that we actually LOVE the rain – it’s great fun to splosh around in and digging is easier when the earth is nice and soft with rainwater, he he he! We also enjoy a vigerous towel dry from our humans – they now wish we didn’t like it quite as much as it’s hard work for them to clean us up every time we come back in, snigger! It’s nice to see you and Cookie getting on so well, the two of you photograph beautifully.
We’re glad to hear that you’re okay after the visit to the vet – that was a lovely photo of you and her having a chat over her desk! We think you’re absolutely gorgeous – you certainly don’t look your age so ignore the rude comments from the humans, humph!
Great team photo of your PAT buddies too – good going!
Tail wag – JD and Max.
We get very little rain here so we don’t really experience it. Today mom made us run through the sprinklers at the park though. She wants us to be ready for the day it DOES rain!
How wonderful that you and your pals can go and help the kids, it sounds like they need it! I am sorry you were dragged out in the rain but the pics were funny at least! Moose hates going out in the rain but if it starts while he is out there or once you lure him out he could not care less! Very Odd! He has a raincoat but hates that more than rain! Cool about the sharks and stingray too!
