My “Bed” trick

trickytbuttonSorry, here is my ‘Tricky T-Day’ a bit late! (for Tuesday or a bit early, if you count Thursday! :) )

OK, first, here’s some video my human got of me today when she was bored with her work -  here I am showing off some of my tricks…aren’t I clever? :)

And here is a special movie I made with my human to show you how I learnt my “Bed“ trick – this means that I must immediately go to my bed and stay there, until my humans say so.

This is a nice trick for us doggies to learn because sometimes there are visitors who are scared of dogs or don’t like dogs – or workmen who need to do things in the house – or even just when humans have lots of yummies by the sofa and it’s a bit too tempting for us!

Learning this trick means that we are not such a nuisance and so we can still enjoy being with our humans, rather than being banished to another room! :)

    Hi Honey!!! :)
I´m falling behing on your classes!!! all because the company where Sara works cut off you tube´s page!! she has no assess to it at work…
and she always gets home late, and whants to be with me… so she hasen´t had time to check your videos out… :(

today we started the hand targeting! Sara couldn’t believe how fast I learned it! seriously!
I picked it up in a couple of tries! She’s so proud of me aahahah
and the best part is that I get sooooo manyyyyy treats!!! (well.. actually they are being STOLED from my meals… I get to eat less after the training… but anyway it´s lots of fun!)

  4. Great performance as always! Your videos make those trick look so easy. Our mum always complains that we don’t stay on our beds long enough when we are told to stay. She says that when she visited your house, you never touched food on the table. Why not? We wouldn’t have missed such a great chance to get yummy snacks!

  5. Petey says:

More excellent videos! We’ll have to try that “bed” trick -- Petey loves his bed, so it may not be too difficult. (I wish I could clicker train Mica the cat -- he’s the bigger mooch when it comes to stealing food.)

I love watching Honey fold those long, long legs when she lies down. You can almost hear her thinking “Oh no, not lying down again! That’s going to take me forever!”

Thanks again sharing your wonderful training tips with us!

    Your pals,

    Petey and Jane

  6. Jackal says:

I’m gonna have to teach Jackal the bed trick. Everything looks so much easier when you actual see it broken down into steps and being done. Thanks for another excellent video.

  7. Princess says:

I agree with Dennis! But I know that trick and use it alot when foods on the coffee table or such. Pish posh on people who don’t like dogs…they shouldn’t be allowed! ;o)

  8. What a sweet good girl you are honey -- i am trained to go to my bed and not move -- but i fixed that problem -- one time i brought my bed closer to the human and layed down -- mommy was laughing so much she didnt correct me.

i am a very bad boy but too cute to yell at.

great video you are truly enriching our doggie blog community with your teachings

HoneyDog, I just had to tell you how much my Mom loves your videos! They give her all kinds of really good ideas about training me. See, Im just a 5 month old Merliquin dane….so I still need LOTS of training.

I graduated puppy school just this week though, and we’ve already begun obedience training. I think Im pretty smart, and love the clicker (because it means treats!!). Now if someone could just train my mom so she doesnt give me conflicting messages! Guess that’s what class if for, right? Her, not me!

Thanks again for your wonderful blog. Hope you visit mine someday and enjoy it just as much!

  10. Petey says:

Hey! I kinda did it! Of course, I had to race Mica the cat to get to the reward treat before he did.

Honey, be sure to visit my blog so you can come to my wedding later this month in Scotland!

    Your pal,

    Petey

  11. Pipa says:

Hsin-Yi, you should really have a school of your own. Have you thought about it?! You are a natural teacher, you have it in you. I tell you, I’ve learned more in these videos that in 6 month s classes.

The problem is that I’m absolutely late! I still haven’t bought the clicker because of my crazy life at work, but I’ll do it this weekend.

As soon as I’m starting my e-learning-obediecence-classes with you, I’ll let you know.

Pipa sends all her love to Honey and I send her some woofie kisses too!

  12. Ludo says:

The bed trick be one me and Penny need to learn. We learning out at the moment where we has to stay out of the kitchen when peoples eat. But I hate going in my bed, I think it just a big toy.

  13. Oskar says:

You’re very smart. It looked like you were eating yummy treats!

  14. Hey, we had you on our blog list so we would know when you updated. Good thing we checked on you today, since we haven’t heard from you in a long while. You’re gone from our blog list and when we try to add you back, we get “can’t detect feed.” Did you move? Your blog looks different.

Guess we’ll have to check on you by paw now.

  15. Hello again. Thanks for the advice but feeds are added to the Blogger list by url, so that wouldn’t work. But we did go back and try one more time and this time it worked. You’re back in our blog list and out of the Can’t Detect Feed Favorites. :)

  16. Lorenza says:

Happy belated birthday, Honey’s male human!! Ahhhh…. digging… we can all related to that but our female humam didn’t quite understand why it was his dream for so long… BOL It’s nice to see the surprises Hsin-Yi had made…. You have very happy & sweet humans. We’re sure your male human spoils his girl on her birkday. :)

Anyway we’re glad you had a pawsome day spending time with your humans and eating some fresh stuff!.. and cheese cake!

    Momo & Pinot

  18. Hi Honey!

You are really smart! none of us are willing to stay at our beds when we have visitors despite mom trying very hard to teach us. Eventually, we only have dog friendly visitors gradually.

We’re going to be retrained the bed trick!

Oh ya, about the glow in the photos, mom uses picasa photo editor, u can try using that, as it is a much easier alternative to photoshop. By simply increasing the highlights, you get that glow.:) Try it! its really simple.

    love,
    Camry, Chevro and Cayenne

  19. Amber says:

Great tricks Honey! I love it when you had your human’s hand in your mouth taking the treat! I do that too. ;)

ok… I will not be a shark!! no I wont!

so we just practiced with me just touching Sara´s hand with the tip of my nose! it worked ok… I still like to stick my tongue out… but most of the time I get it right!

  24. Thanks for stopping by our blog Honey. You have quite a repertoire of tricks Honey! Were those potato chips you were getting? Lucky dog!

I tried to get Oreo to catch treats from the bridge of his nose yesterday, and it was a disaster. Glad to know we’re not the only ones:)

    Can’t wait to see more!

  25. Great videos!
I learned your tricks, I taught my mom right away!
I pointed at the kitchen and said” foodies!”, my mom walked to the kitchen and stay there until she came out with my treats!!
    Thanks pal!

  26. MrsDesperate says:

I’ve just watched your videos with my small human, and she loved it. She thinks you are very clever and wishes she could shake your paw. They looked like some yummy treats you were getting for doing your tricks -- well done!

  27. Dino says:

Whoa! Just look at your bag of tricks! Super impressive! Oh and your Bed Trick is awesome too! Mom never quite succeeded to make me stay in bed for so long! Clap Clap Clap! Way to go, Honey and Hsin-Yi! Love, Dino

  29. Ricky says:

Hi Honey! Thanks for coming by and checking out my blog! It’s nice to meet you! I loved watching your tricks video! And I am definitely coming back to learn more about clicker training!

  30. We know the “get in your bed trick” too. Our dad taught it to us from day one, which has been very very valuable!

Jack learned the sneeze trick with clicker training. Sometimes when he gets really excited he sneezes, so we just captured it with a click (After he learned what clicks meant -- we used the box game to teach him to try new things to earn clicks). Then we stuck a command to it, and voila, a sneeze command.
