OK, the voting’s closed, the votes have been counted and the moment you have all been waiting foris here…here are the winners of my Spectacular Slobber Contest:

Professional Category – this was a close-run race between the 3 top dogs: Savage, Duke and Mango but in the  end – as many of you predicted – no one could beat the super Suds King: MANGO!

However, Mango only won by 2 votes (both Duke & Savage tied at 13 votes each) so there was some stiff competition! And well done also to all the other contestants in the Professional category – you really showed us the range of fantastic drooling skills out there!

 

 

Amateur Category – dogs in this category all deserve a special mention for their spectacular efforts, given their naturaly dainty habits. But when it came to the top amateur drooler, MAX won hands down with 23 votes for his one perfect, beautiful bubble!

Mason Dixie followed close behind in 2nd place with 15 votes and Reilly in 3rd place with 7 votes – a really great achievement for such a pointy-mouthed dog!

Prop-Assisted Category- here were all the creative droolers! Dogs who used their originality to conjure up spectacular drools…and none more original than MOOSE and his ‘heavy-lifting’ slobber! I hardly even had to count up the votes to know that he’d won! 

Moose is also our overall Top Chosen Drooler for the whole competition with a whopping 40 votes to his name!

Big applause also goes to Saige (in 2nd place) for her ‘borrowed’ slobber and Sasha (in 3rd place) for her thoughtful puppy spit!

 

Video Category – probably the most exciting category of all as both contestants were running neck-to-neck through most of the competition but when the final votes came in, it was RAJA who showed a clear lead…and showed the whole world the enduring power of Mastiff slobber – even from beyond the Rainbow Bridge! (Mango, as your Beautiful Raja has gone to the Bridge, will you accept this in her honour?)

Special mention to Gus & Waldo for their spectacular “double whammy” slobber – and at only 5 votes behind Raja’s 30, they didn’t do bad either!

But really, ALL doggies who entered were winners for their spectacular efforts, big or little, floods or drips!

 Thank you to everyone for your lovely comments about my humans’ wedding photos. Some of you may be wondering why they waited so long to get their first pets – well, Hsin-Yi always believed that it’s very important not to get a dog unless you have the right lifestyle and can dedicate enough time to their care, exercise, training and socialisation. It should not be a commitment taken on lightly on a whim!

And when my humans first got married, Hsin-Yi was commuting 4 hours to & from work every day and working very long hours (plus Paul was too, of course, as a Human Vet)…so she did not feel that this was the right time to have a dog. Even though she was desperate and had wanted a dog ever since she could remember, she felt that it would be selfish to get one just to satisfy her own pleasure, when she could not give it all the time it deserved.  

It was not until my humans moved out here to New Zealand that their lifestyle changed and Hsin-Yi was working much shorter hours and they could have a house with a garden so for her 30th birthday, Hsin-Yi finally got her dog at last…ME!! Thirty years is a long time to wait – but you know what they say: anything good is worth waiting for!

OK, before I go – I want to show you this lovely little film that my human found the other day – especially for any of you whose humans might be having a tough time…this will really lift your spirits!
