Guess what? I’m 6yrs old today!!
Yup! 6 years ago, this happened!

Whew! That was a lot of growing!! 
Well, you know sadly us Danes don’t live very long – most of us only live till about 8yrs old – so although 6yrs might still be young for a small doggie, it’s “middle age” for us giant breeds! Look – my face is going sooooo grey! But my humans are hoping that with my healthy raw diet and active, stimulating lifestyle, it will be a long time still before I cross the Rainbow Bridge!
I had a special breakfast this morning in honour of my birthday: pigs kidneys and a pig’s trotter, garnished with smoked salmon and “Peamutt Munch” cookies from the Delibones Bakery! YUM!
I was so excited I could barely contain myself! I know that I never get my food until I am sitting nicely and waiting so I kept running in front of Paul and banging my bum down in front of him to show him what a good girl I am – he could barely walk! Hee! Hee!

My humans say that they are planning a big birthday surprise for me but it won’t be for a couple of weeks yet so stay tuned!
In the meantime, I thought you might enjoy watching this movie of my very 1st birthday party…as you can see, I hadn’t learnt all my manners yet – ha! ha! That’s my BFF & boyfriend, Ombre the Standard Schnauzer in the movie, plus another Dane called Delta who was a bit older than me (sadly, I have lost touch with Delta now) – and they were really ganging up on me, weren’t they?! This was in our old house and the garden was not really ideal – very steep and slopey! Hsin-Yi is still convinced that when I rolled off and banged my head on the concrete is when I knocked what little bit of brain I had out of my head!
ps. Paul was very sad this morning because Lemon is not with us. She would have been 6yrs old today too (well, they’re not sure of her birthday ‘coz she was a rescue kitten from the SPCA but we were both the same age when we came to live with our humans) – and we miss her and think of her every day.

Mom says she once knew of a woman with a fawn great dane who was very grey…even at about 3 years old. This great dane's mom used "Just for Men"…an anti-greying product for humans here in the states. I dont think thats such a good idea though, I think your grey is very beautiful!
That birthday meal sure looks delicious! Mom has never gotten me a pig trotter before, but it sure looks like you like em. Maybe I can talk her into picking some up when she runs to the butcher shop next!

Tell your mom thanks for sharing all your pictures as you grew up into the fine dane lady that you are. We don't have any pictures of me when I was a pup since I was a rescue but we love seeing you! Don't worry about the grey hair…as you know I'm a senior myself at 7 and it makes us look more distinguished or so my humans tell me. I'll be 8 this coming January.

I'm sorry about Lemon -- My momma gets really sad everytime by big kitty brother gets sick and she always asks if now is the time. He's 15 1/2 and has diabetes. I don't know if it any easier when you know the rainbow bridge is coming or if it's easier when it happens unexpected. Either way it is terrible.
