My human is crazily busy with preparing for our big move to Australia – so please forgive me if I can’t visit your blogs much in the next few weeks!
Earlier this week, my human, Hsin-Yi, and I - together with the rest of my dancing buddies from the ChoreDOGraphy Connection team – performed in a Canine Freestyle “doggie dancing” display for the Manukau Dog Training Club X’mas party – and it was quite sad because it was my last dance performance in New Zealand…
It was also quite exciting, however, because my friend, Bodie the Border Terrier and I were debuting our ‘Pairs Routine’ for the 1st time! As you know, we have been working very hard on this although we have only really had the chance to practise it once a week - at the Paws 2 Music club practices on Thur nights – for the last 2 months…and the humans kept changing the choreography so it has been very messy!
But anyway, because I’m leaving NZ in a couple of weeks, this would be the last – and only – chance for us to perform it together so we decided to give it a try!
Our humans were really proud of us because both me and Bodie are “non-traditional working breeds” – and not the kind of dog you’d expect to be doing Canine Freestyle or Obedience – not with his terrier independence or my mastiff dopeyness!
– and we’re the 2 most – ahem! - “unreliable” dogs in the team (to put it politely!) so to put us together was a bit of a risky exercise…but we did really well, especially considering that we have only had 2 months to practise…
So there! Bodie and I both show that it’s not about breed stereotypes but about our humans believing in us and having patience and putting enough time & effort into training us! Hsin-Yi loves the phrase from Adidas: “Impossible is Nothing!”
(Actually, as you will see in the video, it was Hsin-Yi who messed up because she totally forgot to start dancing in the beginning when it was her turn and just stood there like an idiot! )
So here it is! “For one night only…”
I have to say, I can’t really blame Hsin-Yi for messing it up because she was still recovering from our first routine (‘Me & My Shadow’) where I suddenly decided to stop and just stare into space in the middle of our leg weaves
and she was left hopping about on one leg, with the other one hooked over my back – and then she nearly fell flat on her face! She was really mad at me for doing that to her – and for not performing my best in that routine (I was just being generally slow and dopey all the way through it) – but hey, I was the only dog who had to perform TWICE that day so I think deserve a little break!
Anyway, here is a video with just the highlights of all the routines and also some of the really cool Manukau Dog Training Club Christmas parade with all these doggies in brilliant costumes!
Hope you enjoy it!
(The bit where Hsin-Yi falls off is not in the highlights ‘coz she is planning to do a “bloopers” video soon so she is saving it for that!
)
Goodbye, Bodie – my dancing buddy – I shall miss you!

Oh Honey!
We loved your dance routine!
Good job Honey! I think you and your pal did a great job! It is always sad to leave friends behind but sure you will make new ones when you get to Oz. That picture of you tripping up Hsin Yi is quite something!I won’t say it is funny because we humans don’t like it when we fall and people laugh but man alive! I am glad she was ok. It looks like some sort of rodeo accident!
We are soooo behind on visiting our blog friends lately. I have visited a few times from my phone so it is harder to leave comments from there but still we have got some catching up to do. I will stop back in and read up this weekend for sure!
That was some pretty fancy footwork there Honey. We hope you get to continue yer dancing career in Australia.
Bobo and Meja
Oh Honey!

I know your furiends will be missing all of woo as woo miss them!
Hugz&Khysses,

Love the dancing routine with Honey and Bodie! Our training partner is Melody the Border Terrier, so we’re thinking … maybe we could do something like that
Looks like great fun.
Good luck on your move to Australia. We’ve come to learn much about Auckland through your blog, so we’re looking forward to learning about your new home.

Hi Honey & Hsin-Yi,
My mom and I just love to watch you guys dance…mom’s sitting here with a kleenex and her eyes are watering…she’s going to miss you and all your NZ dancing buddies videos and heck she’s not even moving…I don’t get these humans. NZ seems like such a dog friendly place. Hopefully you can meet other dancing dogs in Australia Honey. Mom was wondering how long have you guys been in NZ?
My mom and dad used to be in the military so they were used to moving around alot (that was way before I came around) but now they are finished with their service, they are pretty much staying put unless they move someplace warm someday. Oh they can only dream.

Honey and Hsin-Yi, your pairs dancing was so good, even with only two months of practice – it was great. We hope you can find another pup when you move to continue the pairs dancing. We can’t wait to see the bloopers video too – we bet it will be just wonderful.
Good luck with the move.
Woos, the OP Pack
Hi Honey and Hsin-Yi and Paul,
We loved seeing you dancing with Bodie. He’s probably just about my size so I could imagine it was me dancing with you! Boy, Hsin-Yi certainly has to work a lot harder to swing her legs over you.
We wanted to wish you a very Merry Christmas and safe travels to your new home in Australia. We know you’ll miss your Kiwi pals, but have no doubts that there are loads of new friends just waiting to meet you in Oz.
Your pal,
Petey (and his Mom, too)
Honey, you are the BOMB! Will you please come teach Brogan how to dance?
Awwww… HOney, you’ll make more dancing friends in your new place, I’m so sure!
That last vogue pose was pawesome! and that jump over you was pawesome too. juno loves to jump over lok. but we can’t jump her anymore cuz we just found out she has hip dysplasia.
i am thinking of swimming her and doing some dancing with her within her limitations. thanks to you, i am going to teach her to swim!

That was so nice, Honey! Now we’ll be looking forward to see you dancing in Australia!
Bye Honey I’m gonna miss you heaps, who’m I gonna dance with and smooze around with now? Mum says I can sit on her knee and paw some messages on the ‘puter’ to you.
Love and licks
Bodie
Bodie did a little freestyle during the sit stay part I see. That was a most complex routine. I got confused when the ladies changed places. They are very sneaky.
Ya know, that little guy would fit under the seat on the airplane. Maybe you can take him along with you…
We are looking forward to the blooper video. Momma can’t wait to see you checking out during your routine. Hey, I know that you likely had an actual thought and it caused your muscles to freeze. Happens to me too.

Hi Honey!
So cute! You guys are really talented.
I love your dance routine! My favourite part was when Bodie jumped over you.
I am looking forward to the blooper video too. Hehe..
xo
That was great. Really enjoyed that video.
Kind of bittersweet, we guess, since it was your last dance before you leave.
All the very best wishes on your move, Honey! Great-brother Booter flew to Korea – then back home to the US two years later. He told me once it wasn’t too bad – that the key is to relax and just take naps. He was a pretty smart guy.
Please post an update when you can, letting us know you’re safe and sound in Australia! You and your family will be in our thoughts and prayers!

Storms
Oh Honey, I loved your dancing video! You did so well. My favorite part was where Bodie first walked under you and then jumped over you. Loved the song you danced to, too!
That Christmas parade looks like it was pretty fun.
I hope you get moved and all settled in soon cuz I’m sure gonna miss ya when you’re gone!
I think she did great! The mess ups were so tiny they were hardly noticeable. I probably wouldn’t have even noticed them if you hadn’t mentioned it. I can’t wait to see the bloopers video!
Hi, Honey!
they are going to miss you a lot!
I love your videos!
Kisses and hugs

Hi Honey! I enjoying a lot to see you dancing with your friend Bodie!
Great pairs routine Honey! I loved the part where Bodie ran under you and then jumped over you. I am sure that you are going to miss your little friend a lot when you move. Glad you got to perform your routine together.
Your friend,
Niamh
wow Honey you are really an excellent dancer!! both alone and part of a pair!
Congratulations on a fabulous last performance! Everyone in NZ is really going to miss you.
Hi Honey – aw, we bet your pals in NZ are going to miss you so much, but at least they’ll still be able to visit you via your blog, like we do. And think of all your new dancing buddies that you’ll make – it’s an adventure waiting to happen!
We hope Hsin-Yi doesn’t completely stress out – we hope you’ll all be settled by Christmas. We’ll be thinking of you over the next few weeks and will keep our paws crossed that it all goes smoothly for you all.

Hi Honey! Your dancing routine looks awesome!!! How the hell do you remember all those steps and HOW CAN YOU POSSIBLY IGNORE ALL THE OTHER DOGGIES AROUND YOU??????

You and Brodie did so well Honey! I doesn’t think I will ever get to be that disciplined!

Oh Honey, I have been catching up on all your happenings! What great presents you got and that crate looks nice and spacious for your big move.
I must admit that Mom and I have been rather sad seeing all your posts about your “lasts”.
I know you will always have those wonderful memories and you will get to have new adventures in Australia but it is still a bit sad. I LOVED your dancing duo with your little furiend.
Nice work and that dinner with your beagle buddies looked so nice. Enjoy your last days in your wonderful NZ!
Thinking of you,
Nala & Amber
Great routine Honey.
We hope everything is going to plan with the move. It must be very exciting for you all.
Holly & Zac
HOney, the video of the two of you dancing with your humans was just great! I loved the parts where you swapped humans, and the part where the little guy went under you and then you went over him was wonderful.
Hsin-Yi, did you know that Richard Curtis will be in Australia in April? I’m not sure where he is going but I know he will be in Melbourne.
