Me & My Special Human – In Honour of MaxDog

As many of you know, my blog friend MaxDog in South Africa and his family have had some devastating news: Max has an inoperable tumour in his liver and he has come home from the vets to spend time with his family. It is a very tough time for them but Max is a fighter and we are all fighting for him too and keeping him in our thoughts.

Max’s ‘Mom’ realised that she didn’t have many nice photos of her and Max together and is capturing those precious moments now – but she reminded us all to “seize the moment” and get more ‘ Together Pictures ‘ with our humans. I am very lucky because I have a maniac camera human who has to take a million pictures of every small thing every day – so I have quite a few pictures with my humans already! ;)

So this post is dedicated to Max - here are some ‘Together’ pictures of me and my special human, Hsin-Yi:

.

The first time we met…

(4 weeks - look, my brothers are trying to climb into Hsin-Yi’s lap too! :D I was the first of all the puppies in my litter to get my very own human and I think they were all jealous!)

.

The last time Hsin-Yi could pick me up…

(9 weeks – 10kg/22lbs)

.

Graduating from puppy class!

(16 weeks)

.

Helping in the garden…

(4 months)

.

On Hsin-Yi’s 30th birthday…

(5 months – Hsin-Yi waited 30yrs for her dream of having a dog!)

.

All grown up now!

(14 months)

.

Sharing a hug…

.

Having a nap together…

.

Winning our 1st ‘doggie dancing’ trophy…

.

Enjoying a girlie moment together…

.

Exploring the ‘City of Sails’ …

.

…or just ‘hanging out’…

.

Maybe a spot of modelling…

.

…and a TV appearance or two…

.

…but quiet cuddles at home too!

.

Being a lap dog…

.

Posing for Christmas photos…

.

Doing the ’beach babe’ thing…

.

And sharing a joke!

.

But most of all, those special, quiet moments together…

.

And here is Hsin-Yi’s favourite photo of us together:

.

I hope you will join us  and post some ‘Together Pictures’ of you and your human – in honour of Max…and if you haven’t got many, as Max’s ’Mom’ said – seize the moment and get some more now! :D

* For all those whose humans say that there is no-one to take the photos - Hsin-Yi says “Use the self-timer!” A lot of our photos are taken with self-timer and the mad rush to run back into the right spot always gets a natural smile! :)

————————————————-

* Hsin-Yi is going away tomorrow to attend a conference with Dr. Ian Dunbar back in Auckland and she will be away until next week – so I won’t have anyone to help me visit your blogs – sorry! I will catch up with you all when she gets back.

And guess what? Instead of kennels, I will be going to stay with a pet sitter this time, as Paul works such long hours and is on-call on weekends, so I would be alone for too long at home…but this lady lives on a big farm where I can run free and she has a Great Dane too so I will have a friend to play with! In fact, I already had an overnight ”trial stay” a few weeks ago to make sure that I was happy with the arrangement and I loved playing with Harley the Great Dane – so I will tell you all about that when I get back!

I also still have lots of ‘catch-up posts’ to do, like telling you about my “doggie dancing camp”, my visit to Nudgee Beach and the latest tricks I’m learning - I always seem to be having adventures faster than I can post about them! :P

  • Honey and Hsin-Yi,
We love all the pictures of you two together! As many pictures as I have of Darwin, I only have a few with Darwin and I as I’m usually the one behind the camera!
But after seeing Max’s mom’s post I’m definitely going to try and get more camera time with my girl!

  • Those are such great pictures, Honey! Does Hsin-Yi still pick you up?

  • What wonderful photos and what a great thing to encourage people to do with their doggies, it is often only when you realise that its “too late” that you truely appreiciate these special captured moments.

  • Hi Honey & Hsin-Yi,

Those are lovely photos of you guys together. Mom doesn’t have that many of the both of us together and of course since I was a rescue we have nothing but the last 2.5 years of pictures. But mom will definitely start to take more of us together. Thanks for sharing all the great pics.

  • Hi Honey,

This is so great!!! We would love also to have a “Together Pictures” but….. ah, now this is the big problem, Selby is always too busy taking of our pictures and she forget to take pictures with us (actually in fact, it’s hard because there’s also no one who can take a picture of us with her and our grandma isn’t familiar to use a digital camera… *sobs*).

But yes, we MUST to make sure to have “precious moments” pictures. Thanks for the reminder *wiggles*

Btw, we really love the picture of you and Hsin-Yi having a girlie moment together! So adorable!

  • Wow…I always love your pictures, but these ones are just so special. My favorite are the ones of you two modelling. You are two beautiful women :) I’m going to try and post as many pics as I can of Luke and I as well. We have tons that aren’t developed yet, and some that need to be uploaded when I get a new usb cord but we’ll get them posted soon. Have a great trip!

  • We thought those were great pictures but are confused by one. You let the human sleep on the couch? But that will spoil her, right?

  • When Max’s Mom posted about having pictures with our humans, we immediately thought of you and Hsin-Yi because you ALWAYS have so many beautiful photos of you with her. Of course, it helps to have two such gorgeous models:)

Hope it is a fun time for all.

  • It’s hard to believe you were ever so small, Honey!

Thanks for sharing all the beautiful pictures with us. You and your human are beautiful!

I hope you enjoy yours stay with the pet sittter. That’s wonderful that you already have a friend there!

  • those are lovely photos, Hsin-Yi! Mom really needs to get more of her and I together. Problem is she’s always the one BEHIND the camera!

Mom has exciting news she wants to share. She just booked her trip to come over to Australia at the end of April! I’m not sure if she will be near Brisbane or not, she says she’s flying into Perth and then heading to Busselton & Monkey Mia, but its kinda fun that she’ll actually be on the same continent as you & Honey!

  • That was an awesome tribute to Max! And great pics too. I have a camera lens phobia and avoid being in photos at all costs. I do not have a single photo of myself with Moose :-( I am going to try to fix this though… For Max!

  • Those are FABULOUS photographs of you and mama, Honey! A wonderful tribute to Max and Caryl – yes, seize the moment! And you have – so many times and I loved looking at these! You have some great memories!
    Big Hugs xo

  • Oh my Honey, what a great post! I think together pictures are pretty important and special too. You certainly have lots of nice ones with Hsin-Yi! How cute when you were only 4 weeks old, and I love the one on the beach where you have sandy legs and the hug and the nap and well, all of them. The nap one made me laugh though with you stretching all out…how cute. I can’t wait to hear about your fun at the pet sitter. Guess what?? A 14 week old Great Dane pup moved in next to me. MOm says I can meet her when soon…I am so excited!

    Kisses,
    Nala

  • We’ll miss your mommee while she’s away. Take care of the house, Honey!

We’ll get some pictures of us and mommee together in honor of MaxDog.

I had tears in my eyes looking at that beautiful tribute to the Dog &Mom team…i.e. YOUR TEAM! What fabulous photos! What beautiful models! What wonderful memories!
Thank you for doing this…it brings the true nature of the animal-human bond to the forefront…Thank you!…and thank you too for all your love and support.

  • Honey… I absolutely adore these pictures!
My mom is not so good about taking pictures of the two of us, so that’s why we had a big photo shoot before Christmas. We went to a studio (scary!) with big lights (scary!) and a photographer man took over 300 pictures of us all at once!
I didn’t like it so much, but the pictures turned out very cute. We are a very photogenic Mom and Doggy duo, just like you and Hsin-Yi. :)
Hope you have fun with Harley!
I have a beach date planned with my little sister Lola (same parents, different litter) this weekend. Mom says she promises to take lots of pictures!
    Hugs and slobbers,
    Elle Woods

  • Honey! Those baby pictures of you are so cute I can hardly stand it! But all of those photos are just lovely for sure. What a wonderful girl you are. You are so lucky to have your Hsin-Yi who knows how to make a good life for a full sized gal such as yourself.

Sounds like you are going to have a super vacation. Can’t wait to see the pictures.

    Slobbers,
    Mango

  • Honey – all of those photos of you with Hsin-Yi are so good – I don’t know how you two ever picked a favorite! Thanks for reminding us to keep taking lots of pictures. Have a great time on the farm with your new friend and tell Hsin-Yi to enjoy her conference!

  • such beautiful pictures–we enjoyed them so much! the two of you are just tooooo photogenic to believe! what a team. Opps–guess i didn’t read the post carefully enough last time i was so excited to see the note pad i skipped right by who sent it–hehehe

thanks , and sorry to JD and MAX!

  • We are very sorry to hear about Max but love your photo dedication. Safe travels to your Mom and have fun at your petsitter – sounds like a vacation to us!

  • Beautiful photos. I too have tons of pictures of the dogs but very few of them and I together. We’ve now got a project to work on while we’re in New York this weekend.

  • Great pictures! My Mom is always sticking the camera box in my face so she doesn’t have many of us together. Maybe I’ll suggest the self timer thing.

It sounds like you’re going to a fun place while Hsin-Yi is in Auckland! I can’t wait to hear more about it. I think it’s better to have more adventures than you have time to post about rather than the opposite. It gets boring here sometimes.

  • Great photos, and a beautiful reminder to cherish the time we have with our pups. My sympathy to Max’s family, too.

  • Aww these are awesome photos!

I especially like the dance trophy highlight!

Gus (we did go visit Max…one precious dog!)

  • WE love seeing all those pictures of you as you grew up!!!!! And what great models you and Hsin-Yi are! Meowm is thinking about doing some of these pictures of us!

Of course you are having lots of adventures….you are in a new place! We can’t wait to hear about your adventures at the dog-sitting place!

  • Hi Honey!

  • Hi Honey,

I love all those photos of you and Hsin-Yi together! I wish I could post something similar on my blog, but mum says that she doesn’t want me to do so because she doesn’t like how she looks in photos. Sigh.

    Love,
    Cinnamon

  • Love reading all about Honey. What a lucky dog but then so is Hsin-Yi. I’m going to document Gemma’s progress on her new Raw Food Diet in a blog. I have included a picture of me and Gemma in honour of Max.

  • I love the modeling picture of you two.

Poor Max, we’ll send his family some love!
