Our time in Newcastle is almost up and we’ll be moving to Sydney soon for the 3rd year of my human, Paul’s special Fellowship training…so my humans have been very busy every weekend for the past few weeks, driving down to Sydney to try and find a new home for us.
See, over here, all the houses that are looking for new people to live in them have ‘Open Homes’ on Saturday – each at a different time – and all the people who are interested go to look through all the Open Homes to see which ones they like best. And then they have to do lots of writings on special papers, to ask to live there – and if the Landlord Human likes them, they get accepted!
Well, so my humans have been busy going down to Sydney every Saturday to look at Open Homes. At first, they were hoping to find our new home close to the hospital where Paul will be working – because then he could sell his car machine and just walk to work! – but all the houses there were really tiny & dirty & old & squashy – and still wanted lots of money paper!
Plus the areas around the hospital aren’t very nice to live in – there are ugly drawings called ‘graffiti’ everywhere and people wearing strange clothes walking on the streets and lots of bars & clubs…Hsin-Yi says it would be great if you are a young student human who wants to party all the time but not for boring older ladies like her and me!
So my humans decided to look a bit further away from the hospital (and the inner city). Further out, the streets are much nicer, the houses might be a bit bigger and would cost less money paper too…although not by much! My humans say Sydney is an awfully expensive city to live in!
Anyway, so my humans have been feeling quite stressy and sad because it has not been an easy search so far…most of the nicer houses say “No pets” or cost WAY too much money paper…and any of the houses that allow pets or don’t cost as much money paper are always in a bad place (like next to a petrol station!) or very, very old and broken, with probably rats and things!
Sometimes, some of the houses say “Pets on application” – which means they might accept pets, depending on what the Landlord Human thinks…so my humans are hoping that if they manage to find a nice house that says that – we might have a chance?
Except…well, the problem is ME!
See, a lot of people – especially Landlord Humans – don’t like big doggies: they think big doggies just make a lot of mess & damage or bark all the time – they don’t realise that if we are trained properly and taught proper house manners, plus taken out for walks everyday – we would be perfect house guests! But they don’t know that – and so even if they say they allow pets, they’re only thinking about small doggies…it’s so unfair!
They just hear “Great Dane” and think “Oh, my God – HUGE dog” – and they never even give me a chance! If they only knew me, they would know that I have perfect manners, I almost never bark, I sleep all day and I’m a very, very good doggie!!
So my humans say that it will be very hard because even if we find a nice house, there will be other people who want it too – and they probably won’t have a huge doggie – and so they will probably get chosen first…
Oh well – anyway, my humans aren’t giving up – they’ll just keep trying and looking! And while they’ve been looking at Open Homes, I’ve been having new adventures of my own!

You see, it takes about 3hrs to drive from Newcastle to Sydney (one way!) – so that’s 6hrs already there and back, plus all the time my humans have to spend driving around looking at houses while they are there…
…so it’s much too long for me to stay alone in the house by myself. Although I usually just sleep and am not bothered at all to be left alone by myself, my humans don’t like leaving me for more than 5 ~6 hrs at a time…
So Hsin-Yi did lots of searching on the internet and she found a great doggie daycare/hotel/spa place in Rosebery, Sydney called PawPaws – (not to be confused with the other PawPaws in Waterloo which closed down!)
So every time that my humans have been going down to Sydney, they’ve taken me along and dropped me off at PawPaws before they go off to look at the Open Homes.
It is not a very big place – there is a doggie grooming parlour & spa and then some play rooms for the doggies in daycare, plus a small outdoor garden for doggies to play in – but I like it so much better than the kennels I’ve been staying at back in Newcastle.
The kennels were OK but it was awfully noisy with doggies barking at each other all the time (some of them saying very rude things!
) and all doggies were separated in their own runs and expected to exercise themselves running around and I was just a bit lonely & bored. Plus it was all outdoors – we just had a ‘shed’ each to put our beds in. I wasn’t really cold, especially as they put my pyjamas on me every night but you know, I’m an “indoor doggie” and I like to be inside with the humans!

Nabbing the best seat at PawPaws!
.
At PawPaws, it’s more like “home” ‘coz I stay in a room with other doggies for company and we also always have one of the Pup Carers supervising us all the time.
All doggies staying there get taken for 2 walks every day – and we also get quiet time for a nap, if we need it (ahem!).

Me out on one of my walks...
.
Because it is a very small place, there are only a few doggies in daycare at any one time – 3~4 big doggies max – so I get lots of attention!
And I’ve made some great doggie friends!

Look – Hsin-Yi even gave them her old camera machine the last time I was there and asked if they could please take some photos of my day – and they did! Wasn’t that so nice of them? That’s how I have all these pictures to show you…
The only thing I’m not so sure about is that there is a strange pool of water in the garden! They tell me that some doggies actually like to just sit in the pool and get wet! Ugh! Some doggies are mad…Well, I’ve been stepping very carefully around the pool to make sure that I certainly don’t get my paws wet!
I’m so glad my humans found PawPaws because I’m really happy there. I love the owner, Brad, who has a lovely calm voice and knows how to handle us doggies. He doesn’t get nasty or anything but he is sort of a Confident Quiet Bossy, which makes me respect him & listen to him. I feel very safe with him. He is always there when my humans drop me off to take my leash and lead me in – and I always go off with him happily.
And before, when my humans came to pick me up from kennels at the end of my stay, I would always come rushing out, trying to jump all over them, with my eyes wild and bloodshot and panting and whining and even pulling on my leash to get out of there. But when they come to pick me up from PawPaws, I come out really calmly and am all relaxed & smiley and stand next to Brad and wag my tail.
(I’m also happy to find PawPaws because it means that when we are living in Sydney next year, I will already have a great place to stay if my humans need to go travelling again).

.
So while my humans are having a stressy time house-hunting, at least I’m having a good time! Hee! Hee!
And if you’re wondering about Muesli – well, she has to stay home. My humans say kitties don’t like change as much as us doggies so she probably wouldn’t appreciate going to kitty daycare!
They just leave her lots of toys and also a ‘kitty treatball’ for her to find…and of course, she still has her litter tray so no worries if she can’t go out all day. Now that we’re going into summer and the clocks have changed, the days are lighter for much longer – which means there is still a bit of light when we get back to Newcastle in the evenings and Muesli can go out in the garden for a quick play!
Anyway, so we are all exhausted now from having to keep making these trips down to Sydney every weekend…

…Hsin-Yi says she’s beginning to feel like the highway service station is our 2nd home! Sigh.

How much longer will we have to keep doing this? Will we ever find a nice house AND a Landlord Human who will accept big doggies and let Muesli & me live in his house? Please keep all your paws crossed for us…we’ll need all the luck we can get for my humans to find us a new home soon!!

I am sure you are going to find a new home Honey and I me and my kitty brother and sister are crossing our paws for you!
This story about accepting pets or not in houses sounds crazy to my human though, as in France there is actually a law that forbids any landlord to “descriminate” a family just because they’ve got pets. Though they’re not really suposed to, they might ask you, but you are free to lie. They can’t say anything anyway once you’re in the house -- except if your neighbours complain -- if you bark too much or if you’re aggressive / have very bad manners. That’s good -- we never had any problem, we just moved and no one asked us even once if we had a dog or not -- and we viewed a lot of flats before finding the right one !
But Honey, in France I don’t have places as cool as PawPaws -- not where I live anyway ! You are very lucky
Love,
And talk soon!
Your furiend Lincoln
Good luck guys! I know how hard it is to find rentals with pets. We had a rough time finding a place in Perth when we just had Bender and Froufrou! Barbie only came along after we had settled and bought our own house cos it would be impossible with 2 doggies.
I’m sure you’ll find a nice home soon . Bring Honey to see the Landlord . Her eyes will melt their heart .:)
Honey at least you are having fun and meeting new friends
Sounds like your pawrents are not having so much fun
Sending you BIG GOOD VIBES on finding just the right home for all of you in Sydney!
Waggin at ya,
Roo
Miss Honey,
I sure hope you find a new estate soon. My goodness, but it costs so many dollars where you live. How does anybody survive?
I love your camp. It looks like the perfect place for you. In fact, I bet you are kind of enjoying the house hunting because you get to spend time with your buddies.
You know what else? Humans are idiots. Totally. I have seen the mess some of those little dogs can make. Terrible.
Slobbers,
Mango
Good luck find a new house
at least honeys having fun though. Im sure a land lord will make an exception for a dog like honey
Good luck -- The twins (Bertie and Elsie)
Hi Honey -- oh my, I knew it was getting close to your moving time again. It must be so hard to convince people that SIZE in a doggie is not as important as HOW THEY BEHAVE! I often have that problem -- see, I love children, I get so very excited when I see one! But often they think I’m too big and get scared of me and won’t come over. If they only knew that I just want to be friends and play nicely with them
I hope your humans can find something that is right for all of you very soon. I love Pawpaws, it looks like a lovely place to spend a day! My human says it looks like a spa for dogs!
We’ll be praying for you all to find your new home very soon.
Your friend,
Indy Bones
Aw Honey, I hope you and Muesli and your humans find somewhere soon (but I have to say that it looks great fun at PawPaws).
Deccy x
Moving every year must be quite stressy…even every two years freaks out the muzzer! If your landlord humans want a reference letter, we will write and tell them you are a lot easier on houses than Teka Toy! And we will tell them what a nice doggy you are, too.
kisses
Gussie and what’s her name!
Well Honey tell your humans that I really do hope they find themselves a nice home soon. Wow PawPaws seems amazing! Charlotte once took us to a kennel when we were younger and we didnt really like it! It’s amazing how so many doggies can be so rude! So she doesn’t like taking us to kennels anymore (even though we try telling her that we don’t mind flying over to Sydney to stay at PawPaws!) so we stay with our friends and their whippet. We love it there because they give us alot of attention and their whippet has his own chair and we are allowed to sit on it with him, quite different at home where we are certainly not allowed on any sofa or chair!
We are 9 today! we are rather senior :L )
I really do hope you find a nice home soon!!
Lots of licks,
Ziggy and Rocky the Dalmatians. (P.S This is our birthday blog
Hi Ziggy & Rocky -- sorry this is so late but Belated Happy Birthday!!
Wow -- I had not idea that you were senior doggies like me -- you seem to young & full of life in your comments!
I know Dalmatian doggies live longer than Great Danes but 9 is still a grand age. Don’t you think the Queen ought to send out telegrams to very old doggies too? Hee! Hee!
I’m not allowed on any furniture either at home -- so I too love to visit friends who have different house rules! in fact, my vet back in Auckland had a sofa in his consulting room and I used to love going there coz it was such a treat to climb on his sofa!
Slobbers,
Honey the Great Dane
Wellwe may be old in years in deep down are as fit and bouncy and a 1 year old puppy and we still have plenty of beans! And I totally agree, the Queen should send out telegrams to us!
Yes Dalmatians do live for quite some time! We know other dallies that have lived to 14 or 15! Now that is quite something!
Ahh yes, since we were little puppies Charlotte and her parents would never allow us on the sofa! They even asked vistors not to put us on their laps! Its all well and good when we are little and puppies but when we are big dogs it isnt so fun then (especially for such a big girl like you Honey!) What a sweet picture! Shame our vet doesn’t have sofas….
Thank you very much for your birthday greetings!
Slobbers,
Ziggy and Rocky
The new doggy day care place looks so nice!!!! I think the best part of your post was seeing the McDonalds rest stop — Mommy got so excited. Mommy doesn’t travel --she’s never been outside USA, or the East Coast for that matter. She always finds it amazing when people show their travel pictures and she sees something familiar like McDonalds in another country. She always asks people — did you go in — do they have a dollar menu, is it the same Big Mac like they make here. Butt, most people who travel to another country don’t go in the McDonalds. They eat at the restaurants in that country and don’t even bother to go in the McDonalds. I hope you find your new home soon.
Sigh. It is so hard to big dogs to find rental homes. Sorry you’re having such a hard time. I hope you find something soon. Maybe you’ll find someone who has Danes so they know how great they are.
Wow, daycare looks awesome! And whoever was manning the camera there is a great job taking pictures of you. I’m glad you found a place you like.
In regards to your comment on my blog, thanks for the compliments on the pictures I took. Did you see the ones of me with Chrome on his blog? http://rdxhorses.blogspot.com
I have a Fujifilm Finepix S8100. They don’t even make them anymore. To do the continuous shot self timer I set it on the continuous setting first and then set the timer. When I push the shutter it gives me ten seconds to get ready and then it takes ten to fifteen pictures really fast together. It’s great for trying to get Chrome’s ears forward, but the quality is often not nearly as good as a single shot.
Not again! I really hope you find a place soon. I know how stressful it can be to find a place with pets (try 3 dogs, 1 cat, and 5 ferrets!). Fingers crossed!
Honey, try the water at doggie daycare. You might like it!
in america if you are a service dog or therapy dog, even if you are “in training” no one can discriminate against you about where you can live or even go. you can go to the grocery store even. me and dancer the poodle have special id tags and she even has a vest. it was very easy for her to get certified cause she is a very obedient and well trained doggie. me, not so much. i am still in training. but i can still go anywhere and live anywhere. my mommy might have to pay more deposit money but thats ok. this is all part of the americans with disabilities act. do you have that in australia? if you do i am sure you could get certified in a heartbeat. you are like the best behaved dog ever. plus your smile is so beautiful.
i should send you pictures of me and dancer with our trainer going to the grocery store and eating at the local sandwich and pastry shop. i am very obedient with the trainer. when i get back with mommy i am just whacky crazy me again. she says i will be in training forever.
oh last night was my granny’s birthday, but everyone was so excited to see me at the party they brought me presents and treats!!! i got a giant stuffie DONUT that is bigger than my pony!!!! i also had cookies the nice man from canada made for me. and pop pop put butter on everything for me. such a good day.
i hope you find a nice house soon.
love
bubba
Best of luck to you in finding a new home. I’m sure you’ll end up getting lucky -- what if you placed an ad in the newspaper asking for what you’re looking for? Love the doggie daycare!
Thanks as always Honey, for posting, and often cheering me up!
Thanks for the suggestion!!
We have been looking in the classified sections (as well as the rental agent sites) but don’t know if placing a Wanted ad would be very helpful…actually, there is quite a lot of stuff on the market that would be suitable -- so it’s not a problem of finding the houses -- it’s more convincing the landlords to choose us over another (dogless!) tenant!
Honey, the landlords are extremely foolish if they think big dogs are more destructive and trouble-making than little ones. There is a lovely big hotel/resort here in faraway USA, in a touristy town called Frankenmuth, Michigan, that has been hosting dog shows for a few years (they had one for us Deerhounds six years back and we’ll have another next May), even though for a long time they didn’t allow dogs at all, and even now don’t allow them for their “regular” guests. They only permit dog shows and dog customers for BIG DOGS! They have been in the hostelry business for decades, and they say little dogs are much more likely to yap nonstop, soil the carpets, chew the furniture, and their owners are a lot less reponsible than the owners of big dogs. I bet you could get a testimonial from that resort if you asked for one, even though it’s on the other side of the world. Maybe that would convince your silly potential landlords. If you would like the particulars for that resort, your human can respond to this reply or email me and I will send it to her privately. There is no excuse for rejecting a well-trained, quiet, mannerly dog just based on weight and height!!
Oh Honey,
we have faith that you will find a new home soon. It’s been really hard for you guys in the last few years when it comes to housing. Your humans have come through every time. It will work out again but your humans will probably get real stressy about the situation. We are crossing our paws and wishing your search to be over soon!
Oh my, what a chore. You’ve had to move so often recently. I hope you find a good place soon. It must be very stressful.
Honey, i’m crossing all possible fingers and hope you’ll find a home soon.
In tbe meantime, you sure have a good time at day care. If they could see you, i’m sure the landlords would be glad to have you.
Good luck with the house hunt! If my mom was a landlord, she’d LOVE to have your family in her house!
Play bows,
Zim
Ooooh. We wouldn’t like moving all the time. When is Paul going to get a ‘real’ job?!?
Just kidding! We know how much time and effort it takes for human vets to get all their training done! We think next time your parents meet landlords who are iffy about you, they should break out a photo album of you being all calm and wonderful, as well as a whole bunch of letters of reference from past landlords who think you are the bees’ knees (um… that was Mom’s input… last time I checked, bees don’t have knees…)
Your daycare looks Super Comfy! And the picture of you on two little dog beds cracks us up! We’re jealous -- our daycare doesn’t have a pool! Somedoggies (*cough*Abby*cough*) would LOVE that . And would come home wet every day!
But we LOVE your daycare pictures!!! More please! You look like you’ve got a number of good friends there!
Good luck with the house-hunting thing. If I recall, it seemed to take your parents forever to find their current place. Your Mom is nothing if not persistent, so we’re sure you’ll find some place that will LOVE to say ‘Honey Lives Here’! Maybe telling them you’re an international superstar would help…
*kissey face*
-Fiona and Abby the Hippobottomus
Wow, I sure hope you find the house of your dreams soon, if only they knew what a sweetie pie Honey was, they would pay you to live there! She is better behaved than most human pups of seven years old! p.s. did you hear that poor dear old Thor (Modern Day Ozzie and Harriett) passed away he was such a good dog.
Paws definitely crossed! I’m sure you’ll find a great place before too long!
Our little dog makes much more of a mess than the 3 big ones!
Kari
http://dogisgodinreverse.com
Fingers crossed for you to find a good home and a nice landlord!
That day care looks awesome! I find it hard to find a smaller day care for Darwin (a lot of the day cares here have LOTS of dogs) and I think having that many dogs in one place makes Darwin stressed. She willingly goes in (barks hello every time we walk through the door) but makes a MAD dash to the door when its time to leave.
Honey!
It’s so funny seeing you somewhere that I know, like the service station! My mum recetly spent a lot of time driving from Sydney to Newcastle and back and she feels like she lives there too! We love the Olivers!
Good luck finding a home here in Sydney! Were I live in clontarf, kind of near manly, we have a nice dog beach called sandy bay, it’s not useally to crowded butcitvis tidle, so you have to be careful! And from there you can walk to dobroyd head which is like a big dog oval, but sometimes the dogs there can be abit rude!
Anyway, good luck!
Slobbers
Molly
Hi Molly -- how funny that your human was there too! What a small world!
Thanks for the tips too about the dogfriendly beaches! Unfortunately, we won’t be on the North Shore -- but my human says she will definitely keep those names in mind and once we’re settled, we’ll try to make a trip out there to check it out sometime!
Slobbers,
Honey the Great Dane
But, but, don’t those landlords know that you are famous Honey! I am sure that if your humans explain it to them they will be begging you to live in their house. Sure, you might be bigger than a lot of doggies, but you are better behaved than most. (I am sure you could provide references.
)
Glad your humans found such a great place for you to stay while they are looking for your new house. Still, we don’t quite understand what you have against swimming pools…that would make the place perfect for us…lol.
Will keep our paws crossed that you find your new home soon,
the 2 brown dawgs
Hi Honey, Mum can’t believe its been nearly a year since you last moved. Try not to stress too much. You will find a nice home just like you did the last few times and once Paul finishes his training, you will find a home that you can live in forever.
We love your Day Care at Paw Paws. It sounds wonderful. Bet you all sleep well on a Sunday night after all that driving. Good luck, we will keep our paws crossed for you. No worries, (especially for finding a home) and love, Stella and Rory
My paws are crossed for you Honey.
Maybe your humans can give the landlords your blog url along with the application. It would serve two purposes, they will see how well trained and what a good dogie you are ( also Muesli) and they will be able to see that your humans are correct people with a very well maintained house. Hey! Hisin even cares about you not digging the garden to hide your bones! Maybe your blog can be your best advocate.
Good luck Honey!!
It does sound quite stressy for Hsin-Yi & Paul. I’m glad they found a nice place for you. Good job avoiding that pool, I’ve never understood the desire to go in one and was once very perturbed when I was placed in one!
Nubbin wiggles,
Oskar
A quick bit of advise for your rental exploration which I have found to be quick helpful with 1 special needs dog and 3 cats in my rental property.
Try writing up a “pet resume”
What I include in mine is
Name
Age
Breed Profile (temperament, grooming needs, excersize needs and feeding requirements)
Copies of vaccines, desexing, microchipping, registration ect
Copies of all the courses completed (puppy pre school, agility training, advanced schooling ect)
And a quick note of the personalities of all my pets.
(Since Honey sleeps alot of the day is and is cuddle buddy that would be great to include)
I include photos and referals from vets, trainers and groomers.
(A referral from your current landlord would score massive bonus points!)
And since you have a blog on all the training Honey has done maybe you would feel comfortable to include this with your application?
You can also offer to pay “pet bond” which is just a safety measure for landlord in case any extra damage may arise from animals inside the house.
I have found this to be very helpful as instead of instantly dismissing you the landlord can take the time to “get to know your pets” and then may feel comfortable to contact you for addition information.
Good luck in your search
Kate and Holly
Thanks for all the great tips, Kate! I’m sure any other dog owner looking to rent would find them very helpful too. You’ve got some great ideas.
I do have a ‘package’ prepared for Honey, including a written ref from our previous rental agent in Brisbane (unfortunately, the agents here in Newcastle are too lazy to give us a written reference for Honey -- grrr! -- they just say to tell people to ring them, which isn’t as good!) -- plus Honey’s various certificates, awards & achievements, plus referrals from RSPCA training centre, etc as well as her Therapy Dog organisation…and I don’t have a problem sharing the blog but I find that unless you’re a keen doglover, many people haven’t got the patience to look through the site (which admittedly is very big!). In fact, that is the general problem -- that even with all these supporting docs, if you meet a genuinely anti-dog landlord, it’s very hard to change their way of thinking. They are not going to be swayed by cute pictures or even ‘impressive’ videos -- sadly! (Well, what we find impressive since we understand what it means for a dog to behave well -- but non-dog people often don’t understand that). In fact, they often just fixate on the SIZE and nothing else -- it’s like their eyes glaze over and you just can’t get through to them -- so I find that I tend to try & draw as little attention to Honey’s breed as I can (definitely no photos!) -- I just pass quickly over her as “an old dog that sleeps all the time” -- and try not to focus too much attention on her. The supporting docs are all there if the landlord wants further proof but sometimes, it can be hard to even get them to listen, if you see what I mean! It all depends on the compeition too -- no matter how good Honey’s refs are, they will almost always choose another tenant who DOESN’T have a dog -- all other things being equal.
But anyway, all the things you suggested definitely DO help so thank you again!
Hsin-Yi
I’m so sorry your humans are having a hard time. But I do think Kate and Holly’s suggestion is a good one, having been a landlord myself. Personally, I always prefer large dogs to smaller ones, as they are calmer and less likely to chew up everything. But I don’t think many people have observed enough dogs to realize that the larger a dog is, the calmer he or she is.
And I’m glad you have found a nice day care center. It looks like your new doggie friends are very nice, too!
I wish you the best of luck Honey! You are certainly have an adventure!
I remember when you were trying to look for a house in Newcastle, you also had done a very hard work for that. But see!, at the end you have got a very nice house to live in. And this time I’m sure you will certainly make it. Tell your humans to stay positive and happy as they are! Your new home is on its way to you.
I wish you a lots and lots of luck! You really going to need it. But you have found a nice house earlier so you will this time too
-Lilli-
How abut taking an iPad with you when you speak to estate agents or owners and showing them the clip you posted yesterday of you two practising the routine? It would show them what sort of dog they are allowing into their house.
Or maybe show them a quick look at one of your posts about Honey’s behavior in a house? Maybe one of the ones where you posted about how you set limits as to where she can go in the house (eg not in the kitchen) and how she obeys this.
What Parlance said might be a very good idea
It surely would turn people’s minds about the “big dogs are bad thing” conclusion.
-Lilli-
Wow, I really feel for you. Having just done the house hunt in Brisbane, I find that ‘pets negotiable’ even means ‘no cats’. Why not just say that in the first place? I don’t know how people with dogs get on, but we certainly can’t have a dog while we are renting when people don’t even want a little kitty.
Anyway, I’ve managed to find a place for another six months or so that will take us all so I’m feeling lucky, and I hope you find somewhere soon. Maybe a pet-friendly landlord will read your blog! (And to be honest, I think pets cause much less trouble, noise and damage than children, LOL -- or maybe that’s just my two).
I feel for you and hope you find a decent place to live soon. It’s not easy for pet owners who rent, that’s for sure. We will be moving to a new place in the spring and I am already dreading the search. Like you, our dog follows household rules and would certainly not cause any more damage than the avergae person, but convincing future landlords of that is tough.
I am glad Honey is enjoying her time at daycare while you search. It sounds like a terrific place!
It is so cruel Honey, they don’t know they should be honoured of your presence in their house… such a great doggie and a wonderful kittie…
It is a shame but it is really like this everywhere…
I hope your humans find a new home soon, it is so stressful looking for a house…
Wish they solve their problem soon
I cross my paws for you!
Ciao Lucille
PS: love your new pet hotel, looks much nicer than mine…
That sound like a really hard task!! I wonder why those humans called landlords don’t understand how good it is to have a well-behaved dog and a well-trained cat as their rental property’s residents. It’s far better than having wild human kids or party-mad young humans!!!!
I really hope that your humans will find a nice house in Sydney soon!! My human has also asked someone living near Sydney if he knew a rental property that you might be able to rent. He may not know any rental like that, but she thought it was worth trying because asking is free.
Good luck!!
Hi Honey,
We received a reply from the person who my humans had asked about rental properties in Sydney. Unfortunately he doesn’t know any. But, he says “The outer suburbs, such as French’s Forest have larger sections and nearby parks which would be suitable for having a dog.” I hope it helps.
Love,
Cinnamon
We have all our paws and fingers crossed that you find a nice place in Sydney soon. We seem to remember Hsin-Yi had a great portfolio assembled on you the last time, to show the prospective landlords how great a tenant you are. And you’re actually also good protection for their property, because even though you may not think of yourself as an active guard doggie, most burglars sure would! Good luck!
Your new day spa looks most inviting, and you seem to have at least one little black pug admirer
Jed & Abby
The doggie day spa looks like the perfect place for Honey. Gosh, it must be frustrating for you. I do feel for you guys. What else can you do? I was going to suggest a few things but others have already thought of them! Good luck, I hope you find the right landlord soon. Heck, having a big, more mature dog like Honey would be a recommendation in my eyes. You’re not going to be some wild party animals who would wreck their place.
Honey we are keeping all of our collective paws crossed that you find the perfect house for you and your family very soon. I know how hard that can be. We enjoyed hearing all about your fun times at PawPaws!
We’re keeping our paws crossed for you!! We know you’ll find something just perfect for all of you!
Woofs & hugs! <3
~Bailey (Yep, I'm a girl!)
Hoping you find a fabulous new home! Humans don’t get that dog size has nothing to do with dog manners.
Our paws are crossed that you find a beautiful Honey friendly home. It’s so frustrating to deal with idiot people that have their minds set. Especially those that don’t even have the correct facts and ideas. Last year when searching for a vacation rental we contacted those advertising “pet friendly” only to be told for pets under 10 pounds. What??????? I’m convinced that’s not even a dog
(no offense to those that love their tiny dogs. I know they do come in all shapes and sizes)
I have a great solution to your problem. Just tell your Paul human to come over here and you are most welcome to share my couch with me. I think my mom human would enjoy talking with Hsin-Yi. I think they could start up some awesome dog events here.

Very best wishes for finding a nice home. Unfortunately we don’t have any contacts to assist. Please let us know if we can help otherwise. XX
Oh, dear …. I know how you feel
But I can’t imagine the stress and worries that you have every weekend, and those long rides. I hope that there will be nice humans who won’t automaticly say NO. I’m sure most of the smaller dogs are way more problematic then you, but with all the prejudice that humans have, you can never know how will someone react…..
I’ve moved with my sister to a flat just a month ago, and we wanted of course one that allows dogs, and we were very fortunate to find something quite fast and we are so happy, even though everybody was telling us that is mission impossible. My dog (Maks, 10y) is at home (countryside, house with big garden, rest of the family) because I though he is better off there, and not in the capital city, and I try to visit him every week, and he comes for couple of days to stay with us
.
I’m not sure is this the best solution, because when I was at home, I was the one to care for him, walking, training, eating, brushing, cleaning … everything. But, my family starting to pick it up, and he is used to quite stressfree life at the countryside, and not busy and noisy city …
I miss him, but always trying to think what is best for him … We’ll see how it goes ….
I hope you’ll find something nice soon.
Take care,
Mina
Were keeping our fingers crossed for all of you! This reminds me of when we moved down here to Utah. We only had a month to find a place to live, and there were tons of places for rent so when my parents would call and ask if they allowed pets…they would say, “Yes, what kind of dogs do you have?” So we would tell them….then all of a sudden they would change their minds
But stay positive!! We ended up finding a wonderful landlord who allowed dogs, and didn’t want any extra added fee every month. So we hope you find a place you love, with a wonderful landlord!!!

Honey,
Oh my, it sounds like your humans are working so hard to find a nice, new place for you and Muesli to live. If the landlords only knew you, they would be lining up to offer their houses to you. I will definitely keep my paws crossed that you will find something you all like.
I’m sad it’s time for you to move as this is the first time in a long time that Hsin Yi has been able to put out all her books.
I go to doggy daycare, too, and I just love it. My human takes me once or twice a week to allow me to socialize with other doggies and to get the chance to romp and run. I’m glad you found PawPaws!
We love you, Honey!

Honey, that sounds really stressy and I hope you find somewhere. I is sure you has had lots of good advice already, but I would direct them to your blog when they put in applications. Maybe print off some of your magazines and tv appearances to show how well behaved you is. You know those people like celebrities. hehe!
