Yesterday was Australia Day! It was a Public Holiday and Paul wasn’t on-call, so he got the day off!

We had a lazy morning at home together – then my humans went off to have lunch in a very yummy Taiwanese restuarant called Din Tai Fung (which is really famous for their “soup dumplings” – voted the tastiest in the world!) and then they went to the Art Gallery of NSW to see an exhibition by a famous Painter Human called Picasso…

I don’t know what the fuss is about his paintings though – they all look very strange to me! With eyes in weird places and heads in weird shapes…and some just look like funny boxes stacked on top of each other…
Well – I can do Art too! Look! Here is a picture of me…

…and here’s me as 3 different types of painting!
(If you want to turn yourself into a painting too, you can do it online here: befunky.com – and it’s all free!
)
After my humans came home, they took me for my usual daily walk in the evening – it had been a very rainy, grey day but it was still very hot & humid, so it made me feel very panty. And even with the bad weather, there were still lots of people out celebrating…we passed by a big concert…and I also met some new fans!
.
ps. A lot of you will know that one of the biggest events in Blogville is on right now! I’m talking about Mango Minister, of course! Don’t worry – I haven’t forgotten to enter – am working on my entry now but Hsin-Yi’s got a Big Idea so it’s taking a bit of time to put together…I’ll hopefully be able to show it to you soon! And if you haven’t entered, what are you waiting for?
You can check out all the details here: http://mangominster.blogspot.com/2012/01/mango-minster-2012-official-rules-for.html - the deadline for entries is Feb 5th 2012 – so you’ve still got time!
pps. Hsin-Yi has been helping me catch up with your blogs & messages – but typing one comment after another (or one email after another) is the worst thing for her RSI ouchies…so she has been trying to use her Dragon Naturally Speaking voice recognition software as much as she can. But it does slow us down a lot and takes double the time to do everything. Plus it still gets a lot of words wrong – we try to check but sometimes we miss a few words so please forgive us if some of our comments sound a bit weird!
Hsin-Yi also can’t do too much in one day – so I know we still owe a lot of people replies to messages but please bear with us; we’re getting there slowly!

What a fun day you had, Honey! Your paintings look beautiful!

Hah, Australia Day was 42 degrees here in Perth, far too hot for doggies to be out and about. We also had fireworks AND thunderstorms in the evening, not good for Bender with his thunder phobia. Anyway, we went out and the pups were left in the nice cool house all day….. and there was not one thing out of place when we got home -- well except for a drool puddle on our bed from Bender hiding there and panting. I was very impressed with both of them
Looks like you really enjoyed all the attention from your fan club.
Hi Honey, what a lovely walk and always nice to meet new friends. Isn’t it funny how people often like to put their face close to yours and have a smooch. You were very gentle. They didn’t mind a little slobber at all. Enjoy your weekend sweetie. No worries, and love, Stella and Rory
Happy Australia day Honey.
It’s been a while since I’ve had time to read what your up to and I’m very sorry about that. But I look forward to catching up on your adventures with your family.
What a lovely video
All those boats -- you guys live in such a beautiful place. And Honey! What an attention magnet you are
Then again I have to admit, I’m one of those people that every time I see a Great Dane (there’s only about 4 of them in my city so it’s rare that I do) I go over and give all that attention too -- after asking the owner of course! -- it’s hard to stay away from such a beautiful breed
And I say, take your time replying to people haha. I find it amazing that you actually take time to write people back in the first place, it’s awesome and I hope everyone appreciates that you take time to do it
So don’t feel rushed! lol
Courtney
Stella and Rory noticed the same thing we did: how very well behaved you were with those ignorant humans. They obviously meant well, but what were they thinking, to rush up to a strange dog with a perfunctory ‘is he friendly’ and put their faces right in yours and even grab you around the neck! Mama would have had a hissy fit, so we guess it’s good Paul & Hsin-Yi were there instead, being so calm and friendly. You are such a good ambassador for Great Danes, Honey. Thank you.
Do you have one of those doggie water bottles that Hsin-Yi or Paul could carry when you walk, so you have access to water even when there isn’t a fountain around? They have a little fold-out mini-trough that the water flows into so you can drink. Stick some ice cubes in it before you leave the house, and the water stays reasonably cool for an hour or so, depending on the heat.

Ah…we bet that Picasso exhibit was great fun for the humans, and we are glad you are still being a “Great” Dane ambassador!
Have a good weekend, which you have already started, right?

What a fun day!
Happy Australia day Honey. Sounds like your peoples had a nice time, someone should enter a smelloseum for us doggies!
You have beed exploring a lot lately and meeting new peoples too. My Mum’s a bit scared of new peoples and gets lost easily so she thinks you two is very brave.
Mum says you and Boo looked like Ginger and Black Beauty in your carriage photo. hehe.

Hey Honey -
Sydney looks like a great place to spend a year; glad to see you seem to be enjoying it!
Watching your meet and greet with the humans was hilarious. Just like with Grendel — “How old?” “What kind of dog?” The only questions I didn’t hear were “How much does she weigh?” and “I bet she eats a lot!”
And I think I detected just a little bit of “Paul, get me the heck out of here” when you walked away and rubbed against Paul’s leg. It’s a move we’re very familiar with!
Hugs & Slobbers,
Melanie & Grendel
Oh, look at all those members of the Honey Fan Club! I would have been on my back, asking for tummy rubs!
I can’t wait to see you at MangoMinster! What category!?!? The natural choice would be Too Darn Cute, of course … but who knows?!!? Good luck!
Luv,
Dave
Happy Australia Day Honey! Looks like you had a fun outing! And what a crowd you had gathered around you!
Looks fun! People really seem to love you, Honey!
Happy Australian Day
We hope you all enjoyed the holiday!!
Love and Slobbers,
Zeppelin and Kirsten
O *Haa! Haa!* You met that type of fan!! *Hee! Hee!* We think those type of fans are the best…they are always so enthusiastic and excited about meeting us Danes, our human can’t help but giggle sometimes! Just from watching the video she could almost feel what your humans were feeling!!
O and Happy Australia day
Licks and lots of slobber,
Lexi and Jasper the Danes
The video made my human laugh, your fans are so funny. ” Her name is Honey” -- “awwwwwww Honey!!!” / “She’s 8 !” -- “awwwwwwwwwww, she’s 8 !”. BOL. I wish they’d be fan of me too!
You are very cute, staying still, kinda wondering what’s happening to you.
So sweet!
Love,
Lincoln
Imagine if we had a dollar for everytime we told someone we were Great Danes….

Honey I think your fan club woz drooling more than you were. You Go Girl, you’re a great ambassador for us doggies.
I am a little behind in reading myself, but Honey sure had a lot of fans in that video.
Aww Honey, you are always making new friends … x
