Sorry we’ve been quiet on my blog – we’ve been having a bit of a yucky time (again!) in the past week. My humans had to rush me back to hospital on Tuesday because my left eye pressure suddenly spiked again and this time, it was giving me big ouchies. The vet kept me in hospital all day Tuesday and gave me drugs every hour to try and bring the pressure back down. And then they decided to repeat the Magic Injection again.
Well, you know we had been putting it off, hoping to give the 1st injection more chance to work (because repeating the injection makes the risks double) – but it’s now 5 weeks since that 1st injection and it doesn’t seem to have worked at all
. Instead of letting me be on less & less drugs, I was still having to get my special eyedrops 3 times a day…and then, even that wasn’t enough to stop the pressure from creeping up!
So my humans decided it was silly waiting any longer and the vet ophthalmologist did the Magic Injection again (I hope it’s more magic this time!!
) . Unfortunately, there was a “complication” during the procedure – the needle hit a small blood pipe inside my eyeball (ouch!) and so now I have a bruise on my cornea! Humph!
Anyway, don’t worry – am fine. I had to stay in hospital on Tue and then Wed too, so that they could monitor me (especially because of the “complication” that happened) but I came home yesterday!

My eye is a bit ouchie now and red and bloody but hopefully, that will go away. I’m taking a Painkiller Medicine called Tramadol to help the ouchies go away, plus Antibiotics to make sure I don’t get an Infection Sickie from where the needle went into my eye. Plus of course, all my Special Eye Drops Drugs again – 3 different bottles, 4 times a day!!!

Really, really hope that the Magic Injection works this 2nd time, so that my humans can start giving me less drops and drugs… am getting a bit fed up!!
It feels like every hour, somebody is jabbing and poking and squirting things in my eye… Sigh.
Hsin-Yi is a bit gloomy because she said the injection didn’t seem to work at all the first time.
The vet said that the injection procedure is very unpredictable and unreliable – really, they would prefer to do surgery to remove the eye altogether, then I won’t have any more problems – but with my new heart condition (DCM), it is too risky for me to go under anaesthetic now. So we don’t have any other choice but to keep trying this injection and hope that it works. Especially as it is only about 5 weeks left now before I go on the Big Flying Machine for Perth and I really need my eye to be stable for that… Paws crossed!

Me helping Paul with “gentle walks” for his rehab…
Well, on top of this, it seemed that Paul’s recovery from his Scary Sickie also had a setback and Hsin-Yi got very, very stressy again…but thank goodness it was just a false alarm! Whew! His recovery is still very slow but we just keep hoping for the best.
With everything that’s been happening lately, Hsin-Yi is beginning to feel a bit like this!

(If you want to hear her side of things, she’s just written about it on her own blog: “When things fall apart…” )
Speaking of 5 weeks until our big move to Perth, Hsin-Yi has been busy sorting out the Mover Humans and where we’re going to stay when we first arrive and our rental car machine (until our own one can be transported there) and of course, the seats on the Big Flying Machine for her & Paul & Muesli & me! (Well, me and Muesli are going in a special class called ‘Cargo’!
).We are lucky because you know we moved into this sardine can rental house in Sydney in Nov last year, so originally, we would have had to move out in Nov this year and so we would have been homeless now!
But my humans spoke to the Landlord Human and asked him if we could stay for a little while longer, until early Jan – and he agreed (whew!).
Hsin-Yi has also been doing some research about our new city too… I got very excited yesterday because she came back from a local bookstore with a special book all about Perth…well, I may be blind in one eye now but I wasn’t going to let some stupid Glaucoma Sickie stop me from brushing up on some important reading!

Hmm…so let’s see…which cafés serve the best muffins…?

Of course, Muesli the little minx, wanted to get in on all the action too…!
(* these photos were taken with Paul’s iPhone which is why they’re so awful! All grainy & blurry – not like the nice, clear photos taken on Hsin-Yi’s Samsung smartphone…Hsin-Yi thinks the iPhone is rubbish!!
)

“Just make sure we don’t live next to any psycho neighbour doggies, OK?”

Well, so even though yucky things keep happening to us, we are still trying to keep busy and get on with life…and keep smiling!

Oh dear dear Honey,
We love you and send you tons of good thoughts to help you through all of these sickies. You are the bravest, dearest doggy who seems to just deal with whatever is thrown your way. I sure hope I can be as brave as you throughout my life.

P.S. I just had my 9 month birthday!
Wishing you all great luck! Oh and that iPhone should be taking way better pics!
Honey darling,
Sending you lots of kisses. Get well soon.
Love,
Homer
Hi Honey,
Sorry to hear you’ve been having trouble with your eye and that your family has had some yucky times. I hope you all start feeling better soon. Perth and WA is really nice. I visited once and loved it. Sending lots of positive thoughts your way.
Crossing our fingers & paws that the injection works this time!
Is Paul’s iphone an old one (3gs)? My 3gs took crappy pictures too, I just upgraded to the iphone5 and the camera on that is SO WONDERFUL!
No, Paul’s iPhone is the iPhone 4 but it takes abysmal photos. I’ll bet the iPhone 5 only upgraded its camera coz it was losing out to Samsung!
Hsin-Yi
What a lot is happening in your lives! I’m sending you good wishes and thinking of you…
Honey, our mom says, she would prefer to let do this surgery to remove the eye altogether, if it would be one of our eye. Our vet always makes inhalation anaesthesia, which is fine even for dogs having heart problems. Ask your vet, whether this gentle kind of anaesthesia could be good for you.
And after the antibiotics are through, please ask your mom to give you something to repair your intestinal flora. This is important for a good immune system. Here in Germany there is something named “Symbiopet vet”, which contains Lactobacillus acidophilus and Enterococcus faecium.
All our paws are crossed! Slobbers, Janne & Ais
I hope the injection works this time! And I wish you all good luck with the moving. But try not to burnout yourselves, especially Hsin-Yi. It seems that you have a lot of things to do and bear with. Somehow bad things always seems to happen at the same time but it’s a relief to know that good things will also happen sooner or later.
-Lilli-
Oh my, what a stressful few months you have had. I can’t even imagine adding the stress of moving to the mix. I think about you guys often, and really hope that things start to turn around. Cyber hugs to you!
Holy cow, Honey, that is just too much stuff going on at once. My mom person & I are so sorry that you’re having these awful eye troubles. We’re sending positive healing vibes that the magic injection is really magic this time.
Nubbin wiggles,
Oskar
Sorry you eye is giving you trouble again Honey. Thunder was on Tramadol for his his leg injury. It seemed to help a lot with the pain. I hope Paul continues to recover. You all are very strong. I can’t imagine having the stress of a big move on top of everything else you are all going through. Best of luck to you.
Our paws are crossed for you, Honey! We want you to have a great flight and a wonderful time in Perth
Love ya lots,
Mitch and Molly
I’m so glad Paul is recovering, Honey, although your setback is a little discouraging. Still, Chan’s Basset Hound Sissy beat glaucoma, and so can you.
I was glad to see Meusli playing with the plastecine with Paul. Rehab must be more fun with someone to share it!
Tell Hsin=Yi my sympathy is with her for having to pack up your household again, and with two of you having sickies, but I’m hopeful that you’ll find a better house in which to live in Perth.
Oh goodness! It is just one thing after another for all of you. We are continuing our purrs to help everything get better soon!!!
Oh dear Honey! We are sad that you are still struggling with this yucky eye stuff!! We are sending lots of love and prayers from Alabama! Get well soon! Hang in there Hsin-Yi!
Hsin Yi, we will see you soon!! Don’t worry about finding the best cafes and stuff, I have that all figured out already
000ps, wrong login!!!
Poor Honey xx
I’m so sorry there was a set back! Could you drive Honey (and Paul) to Perth if necessary.
Sam
Well, shoot! We’re so sorry your eye is still giving you problems. Hope your eye dogtor in Sydney is in a position to recommend a really top eye dogtor in Perth for you to ensure a seamless transition in your care. And we’re keeping our paws crossed for Paul, too. And for you to have a safe ride in the airplane. And for Hsin-Yi to avoid a nervous breakdown! Hope Santy Paws brings you a success with eye injection 2.0 for Christmas.
Awww poor Honey, having to go through all that once again when we had hoped so much that your eye sickie would be stabilised by now.
We wish there was something we could do for you, but unfortunately we’re living too far apart for that… Just remember that we’re keeping you, Paul, Hsin-Yi and Muesli in our thoughts and that we hope everything will settle down soon. We’re crossing our fingers that the second injection will do its work and that Paul’s recovery will continue to go forward. And of course we also wish you guys the best for your journey to Perth!
Big hug,
Karolien
& a big slobbery kiss to Honey from Killian!!
I am just sending as much love as I can your way.
Oh, Honey. I’m so sorry you have to go through all this. Plus, poor Paul with his rehab and Hsin-Yi is worry herself sick. Plus, the stress of moving. It is all too much to endure but you are all strong fighters. Good luck and feel better soon.
Honey, we hope the eye medicine works and you get better real soon!
Oh Honey I am so sorry your eye is still acting up. Paws crossed this second injection does the trick!
5 weeks till you get to be in Perth! Wow! Fantastic! I think being there will help all of you heal and be happy again
Waggin at ya,
Roo
Poor Honey! I sure hope this second injection helps with your eye troubles and maybe you won’t have to have so many meds. I’m glad Paul is recovering too. You all have so much on your plate with moving on top of it. I wish you the best of luck!
Miss Honey,
That last photo made me smile too! You are such a good old gal. I sure hope the injection works and that you are all set for your big trip to Perth. It is so far away! Wow! There will be lots to see and do once you get there.
Momma says that she is sending good thoughts to your Paul to get better and to your Hsin-Yi to be less stressy.
Kisses,
Dexter
Honey, we’ve been thinking of you and your humans a lot. I feel that we are totally useless when it comes to helping our special friends when they are having a hard time. But, our thoughts are with you. I really hope that the second injection to your eye will start to work soon and Paul’s rehabilitation goes well too so that Hsin-Yi doesn’t need to be in a picture like that.
Love,
Cinnamon the Beagle
Honey, we are so sorry to learn that you had to have the injection in your eye again. Hope the second time will be a charm and the treatment will work the way it’s supposed to. You and your humans have sure been through a lot lately! Wishing you all good things to come!
