My Rachael Hale photos…

Some of you may remember that last year back in Auckland, I was very excited to be asked by Rachael Hale to model for her latest book, Why Dogs Are Better Than Cats. Rachael is a Camera Human who is famous all over the world for her beautiful portraits of animals so it was a big honour to model for her! :D

One of the reasons Rachael asked me was because she needed a shot of a big doggie pushing a supermarket trolley and she had heard about me and my dancing & tricks, so she thought I would be perfect to model for that!

After that, Rachael needed a group of doggies that were well-trained enough to stay and pose together for the camera – so it was lucky I had so many doggie friends, most who do lots of trainings with their humans too, and we had a great time together at the photoshoot! :P

(If you want to relive our day – including a video which shows how Rachael works with us to get her amazing shots – check out my old post: http://bighoneydog.com/2nd-photoshoot-rachaelhale/ )

I also helped tell Rachael about some of my other doggie friends who were perfect for some of the other pictures she needed in the book. I think half the doggies in the book are my friends! Hee! Hee! :P  Well, we did know a lot of doggie people around Auckland ‘coz we did so many different doggie things and went to so many different parks and beaches and other places!

The book came out at the end of last year and Rachael sent us a copy! :) But my human, Hsin-Yi, was so busy with all the packing for our Big Move here to Brisbane that she forgot to help me post about it on my blog (and she packed the book away!). Well, she has just found the book in one of our boxes so now I can finally show you my pictures!

My favourite is the group photo – I think we all look so different but all so beautiful in our different ways… (you can click on it to biggify to see it properly!) My human says it is an amazing picture because we are all sitting nicely next to each other and looking at the camera at the same time – anybody who has tried to take a group photo of doggies will know how hard that is! ;) Well, I can tell you - we all had very good Stay commands!

From L to R: Me, my boyfriend Ombre, Finnigan the Shelti, Kira the German Shepherd, Kaya the Golden Retriever, Bodie the Border Terrier and George the Bernese Mountain Dog.

And here is the photo of me pushing the supermarket trolley. My head looks awfully big & weird, doesn’t it?!

It was actually a very difficult shot to do – we had to spend all afternoon!

...

Although Hsin-Yi had taken me to a supermarket carpark the week before so I could practise on the trolleys there, it was very different in the studio with the slippery paper on the floor and the trolley kept moving and my paws kept slipping on the plastic bar…and I had to look at the camera at the same time! Plus Hsin-Yi couldn’t stand next to me to help me. I got very stressy…but I was a true professional and I did it in the end! :P

Here is another photo in the book which I posed for: it is to show doggies saying hello to each other:

And then Rachael did some extra portrait shots of each of us doggies as a “thank you” for us. Here is mine – (which some of you may have noticed is now on my Homepage!) – don’t I look sweet and pretty – and sort of confused and bewildered, which my humans say is exactly like me! Hee! Hee! :P They say Rachael always captures a doggie’s personality perfectly.

.

I also got a special photo with my boyfriend, Ombre…this was supposed to be just for us but Rachael thought it was so cute that she decided to put it in the book too!

.

And then as an extra thank you for me & Hsin-Yi finding all our doggie friends to be models in her book, Rachael took some extra pictures of just me with Hsin-Yi.

By the way, you may be wondering why I look so serious in the photos…that’s just because of my big, droopy jowls and wrinkly forehead – it always makes me look very serious! Hee! Hee! :P Unless I’m panting and “smiling”, of course – but here I was very relaxed (and not hot!), so I wasn’t panting (you can see in the trolley photo that I was panting a bit ‘coz I was feeling a bit stressy! ;) )

Well, I hope you enjoyed my Rachael Hale photos and if anyone is interested in the book (it’s a great book with really funny words and beautiful photos!), you can get it here:

(Our broadband is still down – took me a whole day to publish this post!! – so we’ll have to catch up with you all next week. Have a great weekend!  ~ Hsin-Yi)

'Fun with a bandana' and a parcel from Chicago!

* Thinking of my friend, Max Dog in South Africa and his family, at this difficult time – wishing them happiness, peace and love in their time together.

.

Can you believe it – twice in the last few days, the Postman Human stopped by our house and said he had a package for ME! :D

Max & JD the Schnauzer Brothers

How exciting! The first package was from my blog friends, Max & JD, who live in a faraway place  called England. Their humans had been travelling to another faraway place called Egypt and they had got a little present for me from there…a personalised bandana!

See? The bandana has my name on it written in hieroglyphics‘ which are special writing pictures used by humans living in Egypt a long time ago…how cool is that?! :P

Well, as some of you know, I have a LOT of bandanas - my humans love to put bandanas on me when we go out walking – and this new one is a great addition to my collection! I couldn’t wait to try it on…and then I had an idea! Remember that clicker training game “Fun with a Box”? Well, I could do my own version: ‘Fun with a Bandana’! ;)

Starting with the traditional look…

Then how about a bit of rustic ‘peasant style’?

Or I could do a cute retro Minnie Mouse look:

Or how about an elegant corsage?

Then there is the hot pink miniskirt… (oh, la! la! )

…or maybe a bit of Ascot flair - work those accessories, dahling!

Not forgetting (Hsin-Yi’s favourite!) – the evil Emperor from ‘Star Wars’ (er, pink version!) !

"The force is strong in you, young Jedi...but do not underestimate the power of the PINK Side"

.

Kasha the Dainty Dane

And as if that wasn’t all exciting enough, I then had another package from my blog friend, Kasha the Dainty Dane, who lives in a faraway place called Chicago.

This was a little thank you for me helping her to set up her blog…you’re very welcome, Kasha! :)

Ooh, I love opening presents…

What beautiful wrapping paper!

Yay! A tug toy! I LOVE tug toys!

This is me doing my “Happy Dance”: When I’m happy and excited – like when my humans come home - I always have to grab something in my mouth and do a little “prancing walk” around the room…do you do this too? :P

.

Nothing like a good game of tug! Grrrrrrr!

Of course, I still have to remember my manners even when I’m playing tug – like I must always immediately let go when my humans say “Give” – I learnt this from when I was a baby puppy, otherwise they just won’t play with me anymore and it is no fun. I also learnt that I must never put my teeth (even accidentally!) on their skin – if I did, the tug would “go dead” and my humans won’t play with me anymore…so now I’m really careful when I’m grabbing the tug toy.

Some people think that we doggies must never win a tug game otherwise we might get a bit bossy but it’s no fun if we lose all the time! My humans let me win sometimes – as long as I will always let go when they tell me to. And they always end the game when it’s still really exciting, so I know that they are the boss and they decide when to start and stop.

A lot of humans think that it is bad for us doggies to play tug – some even have silly ideas about it making us dominant - but as long as we are taught these important rules for playing, then it is a great game which most doggies LOVE playing and is a fantastic way for us to bond with our humans. :D

And guess what? There was also a present for Hsin-Yi in the box: special cards with our names and pictures on them! Isn’t it gorgeous! We love it! Personalised bandana…and now personalised stationary too! :D

Whew! And then as if all that wasn’t enough excitement, I also found out that I had got 2nd place at Niamh’s ‘Train Your Dog Photo Contest’ and the Reader’s Choice Award in the MangoMinster ‘Hard-Working Group’!

Congratulations to all the other winners and thank you to Niamh and Mango for hosting such fun competitions! :P

My Hard-Working, Sit-Staying, Fun-Training…Dog Pile!

Most of my doggie blog friends will know that there are some great competitions on at the moment – if you haven’t heard about them yet, don’t worry – there’s still time to join in! :P

And although my human, Hsin-Yi, is (still!) too busy with Settling-In and Catching-Up-With-Work  to help me do much blog stuff, I have been working hard, training for these competitions! But I’m having a bit of trouble deciding which entries to submit…

First, of course, there is Mango Minster 2010 - the Greatest Dog Show in Doggie Blogland – created by my great friend, Mango the Mastiff. It has been really difficult to decide which category I fit in in: Cat Dogs, Hound Dogs, Herding Dogs, Sporty Dogs, Non-Sporty Dogs, Cracker Dog Insane Terriers or Hard-Working Dogs…in the end, with a bit of advice from Mango, I decided on Hard-Working Dogs. But which picture shows me at my Hardworking best??

OK, if any of you know my human, you’ll know what hard work it is living with her – that Camera Machine thing never stops! From the moment I came to live with them as an 8-week old pup, I’ve been modelling 24hrs non-stop…and as if that’s not bad enough – not only do I have to pose for photos but I have to take them too!

But anyway, here’s a picture which I think really shows me hard at work modelling – and it was hard work, I tell you, because I had to stand there in that pose – in the cold water - until all the ripples had disappeared so Hsin-Yi could get the perfect mirror image…

So what do you think, eh? Do you think this is good enough to be my Mango Minster entry?

(The deadline is midnight EST (USA) on Wednesday, January 27ththat’s tomorrow! - and strictly no late entries!)

.

Next there is Niamh’s Train Your Dog Photo Contest - which is looking for a picture of you and your human doing some training together. It can be basic obedience skills, tricks, any dog sport etc or any activity you like to do together – and the photo needs to be taken between Jan 1 and 31, 2010.

Well, my human hasn’t had time to do much training with me lately because she has been so busy with the Moving and Settling-In thing but last weekend, we managed to get some photos while I was at this new training class I’ve just started at the Brisbane RSPCA (tell you more about it in a future post!) – but again, it’s really hard to decide on the best picture!

Should I go for this – which shows my human using clicker training to help me practise my dancing…

…or this, which shows my happy focus & attention at the end of an Obedience Recall?

The deadline for this competition is midnight Jan 31, 2010 so there’s still a bit of time for you to enter if you haven’t yet! (Go to Niamh’s site for more details on how to enter)

.

OK, next there is Tucker’s Sit Stay Contest where doggies have to show their best ‘Sit Stay’ although it doesn’t have to be a traditional one! It can show the funny things you sit on or the strange ways you plant your bottom down…

Deadline for this is Jan 30th midnight (EST – USA) – again, go to Tucker’s site for more info.

Well, at least this time, there wasn’t any debate about the best photo:

THIS is my best Sit Stay! :D

* CAUTION: Young Pups – do not try this at home. This is an advanced Sit Stay formation only to be attempted by very experienced Bum Manipulators.

.

And last but not least, there is Biggie the Kuvasz’s fantastic Dog Pile Competition.

Well, you’ve seen my entry for that on my previous post (Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary) and you might have though that was impressive but – wow! – you won’t believe some of the entries that have been coming in since!! I think the best one so far is El’bow the Mastiff in Belgium – check out his dog pile: http://elbouwii.blogspot.com/2010/01/our-late-wordless-wednesday.html (scroll to the bottom) – you really have to see it to believe it!!

But special mention must also go to my Pairs Routine dancing buddy, Bodie the Border Terrier, back in NZ – check out his blog for an entry which shows that small dogs can take on the big guys too! :D http://smallbrowndogs.blogspot.com/2010/01/competition-entry.html

Here is my (now looking pathetic) entry again:

The deadline for the Dog Pile contest is Feb 1st, 2010 so that’s still loads of time to get your entry in! Go to Biggie’s site for more details.

These competitions are great fun and a wonderful way to join in and make friends in the doggie blog world, especially if you’re a newbie – it doesn’t matter if you haven’t got the perfect entry – it’s all about just joining in the fun!

So if you haven’t entered any of these contests yet – what are you waiting for?? :P

My 1st Aussie BBQ!

The Human Pups & me at my 6th birthday party back in Auckland last year...

Remember my friend, DizzyMum, who brought her Human Pups to my birthday party back in Auckland?

Well, she and her family are actually from Brisbane and they have just moved back here!

I am so happy because it is so nice to have friends in a strange new place…

…and I love her Human Pups because they always give me lots of cuddles and play fun games with me! :)

And guess what? They invited me and my humans to their place for my 1st Aussie BBQ!

There were lots of meaty yummies that smelled really delicious…! :P

But while we were waiting for them to cook, the Human Pups played some games with me. We played football (my favourite!)…

…and then we played some Modelling ‘coz the Human Pups wanted to get some photos with me…and you know how good I am at that! Hee! Hee!  After all, I think I have the most “camera-mad” human in the world! Hsin-Yi has been using the Camera Machine on me every day from the moment I arrived home at 8 weeks! :D

.

Here are some of the shots that Hsin-Yi got – what do you think? Don’t we look sweet together? :P

.

Hsin-Yi was very proud of me because I was very good with the Human Pups and let them climb on me and hug me and do anything they liked.

She is always a bit worried because I don’t have any human pups of my own and when I was a puppy, none of their friends had any either - so Hsin-Yi is always worried that I might not have got enough socialisation with them.

But she did make a big effort – like she always got nice human pups in the street to pat me and feed me treats and she took me to sit near playgrounds so I could get used to children running and screaming around me. But still, I have not had a lot of chances to play with human pups and have them touching me everywhere and hugging me and stuff, so Hsin-Yi was really pleased with how patient and tolerant I was.

Of course, it’s easy ’coz these are my favourite Human Pups and I love getting cuddles from them! They even got me a special Christmas present – a tug toy! – and Hsin-Yi said they could give me treats as long as I did something to earn them. (That’s easy! Here, do you want to shake my paw? ;) )

.

After we finished playing, I went back to check on the BBQ…mmm, looks like it’s almost done!

.

Of course, the humans got to eat first…but I did get a lot of yummy leftovers (sorry, there is no picture ‘coz I gobbled it up too quickly! :D )

And then afterwards, it was time for more cuddles…But wait! What’s that over there? What do you think the little Human Girl Pup is showing me?

There’s a kitty-cat in the house!  Her name was Samantha but although I tried to be friendly and wagged my tail and gave her a play bow when I saw her, she didn’t like me at all! :( She hissed at me and made a scary yowly sound so I kept a respectful distance!

Much better to be getting more cuddles from the Human Pups! :D

The year that was…2009

My blog friends, Jackson & Patrick the Chihuahuas, had the great idea of posting a slideshow of their year in review…so I thought I’d do something similar:

So here it is – well, between dog dancing and agility, swimming lessons and beach romps, not to mention birthday party, TV appearances, modelling and pet therapy work…whew! It’s been a busy year! No wonder I need to sleep 18 hours a day!! :D

Big cats, bandanas and “impossible” doggies!

Honey+bluespot-bandanaEvery year, in October, is a special time to help a charity in NZ called Canteen which supports young teenage humans with the scary sickness called cancer. You can do this in lots of ways but the easiest and most fun is to buy one of their bandanas!

So every year, my humans get me lovely new bandanas from Canteen…

Look, this is one of my new ones this year – Hsin-Yi loves the blue colour on my fawn coat. She says the spotty things make me look very “stylish” – what do you think?

Honey+bandana-collection2Well, I’ve now got quite a bandana collection! :D

Although I have to tell you, I have lost a few bandanas from my collection -

they either got torn when I was in the park playing with my friends (my friend Hugo especially likes to pull off my bandana!) or got so dirty (especially when I rolled in some stinky stuff!) that my humans could not wash them anymore and had to throw them away…

But here are the rest of them. Aren’t they pretty? (Can you tell what Hsin-Yi’s favourite colours are? Hee! Hee! ) There is a beautiful blue one which was designed by a famous NZ singer human, called Boh Runga - that is one of my favourites. You can also see the big white bandana with black paw prints that I got from Wag ‘n’ Walk…and there is also my white Outreach Therapy Pets bandana which I have to wear whenever we are going for therapy visits or representing Therapy Pets at events.

Honey+bandana-collection

My human is really happy to find these bandanas coz all the doggie ones that they sell in the pet stores are too small for me – they either aren’t big/long enough to tie around my neck or even if they are, it all bunches up and you can’t see much of the bandana. But these are the perfect size! :)

******

Now, some of you may remember that a few months ago, I did a post about “impossible to train” breeds…I’m supposed to be one of them! Hee! Hee! My human really believes that any breed can be trained if you put in enough time, effort and patience and use the right methods. All those breed stereotypes are just an excuse! :P There are Huskies that do Obedience, Beagles that do amazing tricks and dance Freestyle, Mastiffs that do Agility and Dachshunds that do Tracking…

When she got me as a puppy, everyone told Hsin-Yi that Great Danes can’t do much but she decided never to let my breed be a handicap  – she would just believe that I can do anything other breeds can and it was up to her to find ways to teach me! Hsin-Yi always thinks that anything is possible if you believe in it and you work hard enough… And, of course, she loves a challenge! :P

dt-difficultbreedscoverWell, you know Hsin-Yi is a pet writer and so she wrote an article about “difficult breeds” for one of her dog magazines in the UK called Dogs Today and lots of my blog friends were very kind and helped her with the article.

We were very excited this week because we finally got a copy – it is in the November issue.

Unfortunately, the magazine cut out some of the interviews that Hsin-Yi wrote about so not all my friends who helped got featured but 3 of them did!

Chow Chow in Singapore, Nala the Ridgeback and the Dugallmore Beagles!

DT-DifficultBreeds-article1

DT-DifficultBreeds-article2

Anyway, I just wanted to say thank you to ALL my friends who helped Hsin-Yi with the article and were very patient with her questions! If you are interested in getting a copy, you can contact Dogs Today to order a back issue (http://www.dogstodaymagazine.co.uk/back_issues.html)

Now, I know all my American and Canadian doggie friends are celebrating this thing called Hallowe’en and doing funny things with pumpkins. We don’t really celebrate this here in NZ, although sometimes human pups do come knocking on our door asking for sweeties (they usually run away screaming when they hear me barking! ;) ) – but I have entered Daisy the Pit Bull‘s costume contest! Here are some pictures of me in my costume – I am entered in the “Most Original” category…what do you think?

I think my friend, Max in South Africa, would especially appreciate my costume!! :D

(in case anyone is wondering, Hsin-Yi found 2 “Tina Turner” wigs in a party shop which she stitched together for me…she says it was an easy and cheap costume but looks quite good, doesn’t it?)

OK, before I go, I want to show you some beautiful flowers that we saw when we were in Newmarket Park the other day for one of my “daily walks” – Hsin-Yi got me to go and stand in the middle of them to pose for photos…

Rachael Hale kittens & Me…

honey-pose-rh-studioSome of you may remember that I was really lucky and honoured to be asked by Rachael Hale to model for her latest book and had 2 photoshoots with her back in March (if you missed those posts, you can read about them HERE).

The book was  planned to be launched in October in the faraway place called United States and my humans were really excited to receive a link to the preview of the book this week!

If you click through the preview, you will see a couple of the photos I’m in – especially the beautiful group shot which includes all my best friends :D – my boyfriend, Ombre the Standard Schnauzer, Finnigan the Sheltie, Kira the German Shepherd, Bodie the Border Terrier and George the Bernese Mountain Dog. I love this photo! I think we all look so lovely in different ways – celebrating the different ways different dogs can be beautiful! :P

(by the way, for my kitty friends – please don’t be offended by the book’s words – Rachael said it is “tongue in cheek” which I think means that it is all just a joke)

So here it is: Preview: Why Dogs Are Better Than Cats

Rachael has very kindly given us copies of the photos but we are not allowed to post them on my blog until the book comes out so you will have to wait a bit longer to see them all properly!

We were quite sad to hear that Rachael was leaving NZ in May to go and live in France! But she was very kind and agreed to let Hsin-Yi interview her before she left, so Hsin-Yi could write an article for one of her dog magazines. So one afternoon back in May, Hsin-Yi took me along to Rachael’s studio again…and guess what I met there?!

Honey+kittens

Honey+kitten1

Yup, Rachael was doing a shoot with 3 little kittens!

Rachael+kitten2

kitten-posing

They were like tiny little balls of fluff and they sure weren’t scared of me at all!

Honey+kitten4

Honey+kitten3

…whereas I just froze – I didn’t know what to do with them! When my kitty sister, Lemon, was as young as this, I was only a little puppy myself so I don’t really remember what it’s like to have little balls of fluff around me…

Honey+kitten2

…as you can see in this short video! :P

Sorry the pictures and video are such poor quality – Hsin-Yi didn’t take her big camera that day because she was expecting just to be interviewing Rachael and didn’t think there’d be other cute animals there! ;) So she only had her small pocket camera which takes blurry pictures and video. But I hope it still gives you an idea of how cute the kittens were! :D

Bye kittens!

Being a model doggie…

Did you know that Great Danes are known as “the Apollo of dogs”? One reason my humans love Danes is for our majestic and elegant looks. Hsin-Yi has even taught me to stand tall and lift my head so that I look like a noble statue. That’s what I was doing in this photo – what do you think?

I liked this photo so much, I have decided to put it as my new Homepage photo, to replace the old one which was taken when I was 2 years old…now that I’m more ‘mature’, it’s time I had a grown-up photo! :D

Honey-stack-waterpool3

Well, as many of you know, my human has a serious addiction to the Camera Machine – it’s almost like an extra paw on her body, the way she carries it with her all the time and constantly takes photos of everything!

Of course, the thing she takes the most photos of is ME! :P  When we’re out, other humans often stop, amazed, and ask Hsin-Yi how she gets me to pose so nicely for photos… HY-carry-Honey(light)Well, that’s easy: see, from the moment I walked in my home as an 8-week old puppy, I’ve had to get used to the thing being shoved in my face 24 hours a day (yes, even when I’m sleeping!) In fact, one of the first commands I learnt was “Wait!” – which means that I must freeze and not move until I hear my release word (“OK!”), while Hsin-Yi hovers around me, clicking away and gabbling to herself like a maniac!

But that’s OK – I’m so used to it now, I barely even notice her and it’s best if I just  humour her as then I can get on and do the more interesting stuff, like sniffing and chasing my tennis ball! ;)

So anyway, here are some photos that I modelled for in the last few weeks – the first batch is from our last visit to Rothesay Bay on the North Shore, back in July.

RothesayBay1

It was late afternoon – this is one of Hsin-Yi’s favourite time for photos as the light makes all colours look really deep and rich. Look at this water and sky! (these photos have not been retouched at all!)

Honey-pool

She saw a lovely pool of water that was like glass and got me to go and stand in the middle…and pose! ;)

Honey-stack-waterpool2

Look, the reflection in the water made my legs look even longer! :P

Honey-stack-waterpool

Of course, I’m a very versatile model…I can do back views….

(Mango - what do you think of my 'hiney'??! :-)

…and I can even freeze in mid-air!

OK, now for something a bit different…one of the nice things about Winter is all the beautiful magnolias blooming! Magnolias are one of Hsin-Yi’s favourite trees – especially the pink ones! Here are some photos from when Hsin-Yi and I went on a “magnolia tour” of our neighbourhood a few weeks ago…

You know, in all the excitement with Agility and stuff, I totally forgot that I just passed my 1 yr anniversary of blogging! Yup, one year ago – on Aug 24th 2008 – I published my very first post! I was so new to the whole blog thing but everyone was so helpful and welcoming.  It was lovely making so many new friends from around the world and sharing all your adventures!

grandhotelAnd I must give a special mention to Dino the Golden Retriever for if my human hadn’t stumbled upon his blog and been so impressed and inspired, she would never have thought of helping me start one of my own!  He really opened a whole new world for us – thank you, Dino!

Speaking of starting a blog, I’d also like to take this opportunity to introduce you to some of my friends who are new to the blogging world – if you have a moment, please do pop over and say hello! It can be a bit lonely when you first start and don’t know anyone! :)

Elbow+HauwiiFirst, there is El’bw the Mastiff and Hauwii the Small Musterlander who live in Belgium. Some of you may remember El’bow – he sent in a fantastic entry for my Spectacular Slobber Competition!

Bodie-bedhead

LOVE his 'bed head'!!

Then there is my old friend, Bodie the Border Terrier, who has finally gotten himself a blog! He was also at the Rachael Hale photoshoot and I also see him at dance classes…in fact, Bodie & I are working on a Pairs Dancing Routine together!  (video coming soon!)

Oh, and check out Tucker the Great Dane - am so impressed: he’s only 10 months old but look at all the tricks he can already do! Woohoo!

Lastly, what do you think of my entry for Ludo’s “Not A Tricky T-Day Contest” – where all doggies have to send in a “not doing a trick” photo.

If you haven’t voted yet, do pop over to cast your votes! (and vote for meeeeeee!! :D )

I'm DEFINITELY not doing a trick!!

I'm DEFINITELY not doing a trick!!

My TV debut…!

UPDATE: the TV people have sent me a video of the show! Scroll down to the bottom of the post to watch the clip…

HY+Honey-Studio2-couch

Wow – I had a very exciting day today!

Honey+TVNZ-doorsMy human, Hsin-Yi, took me to a place called ‘TV studios’ where they can  do magic so that I can fit inside the TV box. This is because they wanted me to show my dancing to human pups on a TV show called Studio 2

(check out my last post!)

It was a big place with lots of rooms and lots & lots of humans, who all squealed when they saw me and wanted to come and pat me.

Here I am arriving at the ‘TV studios’ place…

Then they said it was time for me to do my dancing and I could hear Hsin-Yi calling and calling my name but unfortunately, I had a relapse of a sickness I had when I was a young pup, called Selective Hearing (Sasha will know all about this!) and I just could not hear her…I was too busy and excited running around everywhere and checking out all the new smells! It was so much fun!

Ooh! What's this? And this? And this?!

Ooh! What's this? And this? And this?!

But then finally, I thought I’d better go to Hsin-Yi because I didn’t want her to show these TV people her Scary Face…how embarrassing would that be? She was standing in the special space for us to dance but it was so small! How did they expect me to shimmy around in there? Didn’t they realise that I’m a Plus-Size Girl??

Well, then I heard the music start and Hsin-Yi started asking me to do my dance movess but even though she was giving me treats, it was so hard to listen to her with all those strange lights coming in my eyes and flashing boxes behind me on the wall and then some humans carrying big camera machines started coming up to my face…so I just went up to him and stuck my nose into the camera’s eye and gave him my best slobbery smile!

Gosh, you’d think they’d be happy but no, I could hear Hsin-Yi screaming and people shouting something like “CUT!”  Cut? Cut what?

Honey-studioThen Hsin-Yi gave me a secret Scary Face – the one where she hopes no one else can see it except me – and told me to behave and said we had to start again! :( So I went to sit by her again and the music came on again and this time, I really tried to concentrate and do my dance moves…but it was still so hard because there were just too many interesting things in that room and the camera machines kept coming up to my face…and worst of all, there was no space to spin properly or back up or anything!

So…it was not my finest moment on camera. Hsin-Yi says I was so slow I looked like a zombie doggie! And I didn’t really show everybody how well I could dance…sigh… (well, it’s awfully hard in that tiny space and with all those distractions!) But anyway, she still gave me a cuddle afterwards and said I was a good girl.

Then the Presenter Humans came up to pet me and ask Hsin-Yi questions about me – they were really nice!

And then it was all finished! But lots of humans in the other rooms wanted to meet me so they asked Hsin-Yi if I would mind going around to say hello to them…well, of course not! I love making new friends!

Hello...would you like some of my slobber?

Finally, it was time to go home. In fact, we got back just in time for the show and – whaddya know? – I AM inside the TV box!! That really is magic how they managed to fit me in!!

Note from Hsin-Yi:

I was a bit disappointed that Honey didn’t do better today but everyone tells me I’m a terrible perfectionist! :) Poor thing – it was a lot for her to take in - too many distractions! - and I think she was a bit over-excited to focus, even with the yummy roast chicken I was holding in my hand! Also, the space really was tiny – I could barely dance properly, never mind Honey! It could have been worse, I suppose, like she could have been frightened of all the lights and cameras in her face, which a lot of dogs would have been…but at least she was confident and sociable…even if she did go and slobber on the camera!! ;)   Anyway, it was an interesting experience and we had fun!

Here is the clip of the show featuring Honey:

-Whew! Am exhausted from all the excitement…don’t need a walk today…am off to have a nap…Bye!
